It's been confirmed!
Well I will be 7 months post op on April 21 and just found out that I am pregnant. At first I was completely scared out of my mind thinking I must have done something wrong and that the baby won't be ok because of my surgery. After seeing my doctor and talking to the surgeon's office there is no need to worry. Granted they would have rather I didn't get pregnant until 12-18 months post op, life happens. This was completely unplanned but very welcomed. I am only 17 pounds from my goal weight and 32 from the goal the surgeon set for me. I am excited, anxious, and scared all at the same time. Is anyone else out there experiencing this? I guess I understand that the baby will be ok and so will I as long as I continue making the right decisions and will keep exercising to keep the weight gain at 15-20 pounds as my doctor suggested. But I still can't help but be a bit scared and anxious to watch the scale go up after it has been going down. I've watched that damn thing go up and up and up my entire life. I just hope that I am prepared for that part of it and will be ok. Any advice?
I just wanted to say congrats on your pregnancy. Do what your OB and Surgeon tell you to do and you will be fine. I can't give you any advice as I didn't have the same surgery as you but there are numerous on the board.
Make sure you talk to the nutritionist in your surgeon's office. They will probably tell you to add carbs back in to your diet (but again someone with your surgery type can answer you better on that).
Worry now about the health of your baby. Any weight that you gain will be ok! You can work on it after the baby is born!

Congratulations April! Definitely add carbs back into your diet to avoid ketosis. Make sure you talk to your dietician about prenatal vitamins and calrie intake etc. Depending on what your calorie intake is no (mine was about 1500 at 7 months post op) you might be fine, but you'll probably need to up it an extra 300 calories when you start your 2nd trimester.
I hope you have a healthy & happy 9 months. Stick around this board, there are lots of ladies who have been pregnant as early out as you and lots of ladies hee to give good advice!
