My Trip to the ER this weekend...kinda long
So Saturday, I was at my in-law's house about an hour away from where I live and I started getting horrible pains in my abdomen & back. I have had some big issues lately with constipation so I figured that's what it was (I haven't "gone" without help from an enima in about 2 weeks). I knelt on my hands & knees which usually helps alleviate the pressure. It didn't this time. It actually felt like it made it worse. Then the pain got even worse. When asked I said my pain was an 8 out of 10 (and I generally have a very high tolerance for pain). So my inlaws called an ambulance (my hubby wasn't there) and I got to take a ride to the hospital. Because this was the worst pain I have ever experienced and it was in my abdomen, I was really worried that it was the baby & not just constipation. Rory is absolutely doing fine. It WAS constipation, but REALLY bad. I kept apologizing because I was so embarassed for going to the hospital in an ambulance because of constipation. But they kept assuring me that I was definitely not the first person who had done so.
The pain eventually subsided after a little over an hour.
The doc ended up putting me on a regimen of stuff that includes suppositories, stool softeners, fiber etc. Hopefully that will help me have no more episodes like this one.
I am nervous about following up with my OBGYN today (I just have to call and let her know). I think they're gonna roll their eyes at me, but what do you do right?
Hopefully this week is a lot less eventful than this weekend!

Mommy to 2 of the most beauiful little girls in the whole universe and still in love with my hubby of 8 years. LIFE IS GOOD!
I take 4 stool softeners every night, drink 1 gallon of plain water every day, take 3200 mg magnesium daily, and 4000 mg vitamin C daily, and eat high fiber (fruits, veggies, lots of whole wheat bread, noodles, etc.) everyday just to have a productive BM!
I have had constipation during this pregnancy two different times, and both times pushing out the stool actually caused me to tear, called an "acute anal fissure" that almost required surgery while pregnant! (But thankfully it healed up with some medication and TONS of fiber & water, and taking sitz baths after every BM).
So with that being said, I am very empathetic to your plight! It is so tough to stay regular during pregnancy, and I think it is even harder for us, as post-ops, because our bodies literally do not work as efficient in that department! And I read a post once about a pregnant lady who was so constipated that her intestines were contracting so hard to push out the stool that it actually made her uterus contract and she went into labor! =( After they cleared her out and she had a BM, her uterus then stopped contracting and with rest it all went back to normal though.
Moral of the story: avoid pregnancy constipation like the plague!
