Venting.....No ultrasound!

Just venting.....I had my monthly prenatal appointment last week and I asked my doctor when she planned on scheduling my next ultrasound. I was kinda pissed at her response when she said that there was no reason to schedule another one. My last one was at 14 weeks. She also went on to say that maybe in my 3rd trimester she will do that. Arrrgh!! WTH! I'm impatient! I'm already between 20 and 23 weeks!

Aaaah welcome to Club Impatient! I'm right there with you!  I've had one ultrasound at 8 weeks to make sure the pregnancy was viable, then another at 18 weeks to evaluate anatomy size and nothing since!  Hubby and I paid for our own 3D U/S but the doc does not seem inclined to schedule any others, even after saying on Thursday that I was measuring at 30 weeks instead of 26... I guess no news is good news, but it does nothing to appease us impatient mammas to be! Hang in there girl!

SOrry to hear that they don't do another US. My OB's office routinely only does them at 14 weeks for the genetic testing and 20 weeks. Because I was high risk  I have one a month - thank GOD! I

I hope that they get another one scheduled for you. The good news is that it means all is going well and they don't feel the need to check!

Yeah, i am very impatient! LOL! With my first pregnancy I had at least 5 ultrasounds because I was considered high risk (PCOS.) I thought, I was also considered high risk with this pregnancy because I am just over a year out from my RNY and the PCOS. Oh well, what can I do? I also don't think my Dr knows what she is doing. Everytime she does anything she has to check with at least 3- 4 other doctors. I guess that's what Resident doctors do???? Thanks for your responses!

I was told I am high risk for two reasons. One, I had WLS and they high risk OB just wants to keep an eye on me to make sure baby is growing the way it should. Two, cause I am old. :(

Good luck with all this. Personally, I would find a new doc.

I had one around 7 weeks to check the pregnancy, and according to my Dr. the only other one I'll have will be around 18 weeks.

If you don't think you're getting the care you need/deserve from this doctor, I would highly recommend you finda new doctor now.  With my last pregnancy, I never felt like my doctor was doing what I needed or really paying attention to me.  In the end, we realized how much she neglected me with what my baby and I both needed.  The ultrasound is just an indicator.  If you feel you need more, you should talk to her about it, or switch docs now.  With this pregnancy, I interviewed (grilled) my new doctor.  I figure, they work for you.  You are they boss and they are the employee.  Obviously, you hire them for their expertise, but you should feel like you're getting the care you need.  Maybe you'd rather have someone who doesn't have to run things by 3-4 other docs?
Good luck with whatever you do.  I know it's hard to wait!

What?? No level II ultrasound? That's insane. That's usually a standard thing at around 20 weeks to do an anatomy ultrasound. That's kind of crazy that they're not doing one. Sorry I'm responding to this so late. I've been away from the computer for a while (not feeling well) and I'm going back reading everything that I haven't read since the last time I was on here. But if you haven't already, I'd be demanding her to do an anatomy ultrasound.

I hope you get another u/s!

I hope you are feeling better. This week I was able to find a new doctor. So, I'm just waiting for the release forms and the file transfer and they are going to call me with an appointment. I'm excited to get out of that place. Thanks everyone for your responses!
