Breastfeeding question....

Hello Ladies,

My baby is just about 4 weeks old and I have been pumping and bottle feeding her.  I have also been supplementing with formula.  I had to start pumping after the first week because she just couldn't latch well, so she wasn't getting enough and became dehydrated.  Anyways, my supply has been good up until this past Monday when it suddenly  and drastically decreased.  I didn't change anything..diet or medication. I have been putting her to my breasts to hopefully stimulate production, but it doesn't seem to be working.  I even consulted with a lactation consultant and we went over everything.  She thinks that I may be stressed which my be impacting my production.  She suggested more skin to skin contact and suggested that I drink some malt or a beer in the evening to relax.

Has anyone else had this experience?  Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I have not had this problem thank goodness but I have heard that seeing your baby while you pump can help. What if you did skin to skin contact while you pump? Maybe that would help. I would also keep trying to get her to latch because for me on demand feedings was the best way to help my milk production! It is also an amazing way to spend true quality time with your little one.

Good luck!
