My Ob

Hello,
I went for my first appointment on Monday and they said my due date was November 1st. It makes no sense to me because going off my last period I should not be due until November 6th but I know they just "esitmate". I was not thrilled with the office visit. It was pretty much just an intake appointment then they did a physcial exam and gave me a lab slip to get some blood work done. I went for the blood work yesterday, I walk into get it done and they were all ready to do my glucose test. I was a little shocked being that I am not even out of my first trimester and had not even talked to my bariatric surgeon about the tests. So I told the lab tech to say patient denied test. Did any one else get that test done that soon?? The day of my appointment they also did the test for strep B. I thought that was soon as well but maybe I am wrong. I have another appointment to meet with another one of the ob's in the office on the 19th...
This is just a very confusing process!!!

In my first trimester, I only had two u/s and blood work.  I didn't have strep B until 35 weeks.  I was reading that it is only an effective test if done between those weeks.  Also the glucose test I believe is around 27 weeks.  I didn't take one because they weren't going to torture me with dumping when I can just test my sugar and go on diabetic diet.  I am wondering if perhaps they messed up and have you and another patient confused.

I hope it all works out-Stacey

Sounds pretty frustrating. I can't offer much because I'm new at this myself.

The only thing I can input is that going from the first day of my last period, I figured the due date as November 9th. But when I went in for my initial appt at around 7 weeks, my dr did a measurement from the ultrasound and gave me a due date of November 8th from that measurement. He said "from now and until this baby is born, the due date will be November 8th, it will not change."  I've heard of other doctors changing the due date every other time the mom goes in for a check. I don't know...

Hopefully your next appointment goes better. I agree---very confusing.

Best wishes. We're really close in due dates!!

Yes thats the office I am at. I see Dr. Brown...It is just a weird office. I asked numerous times,
" Do I get this blood work done before my next appointment" and they kept saying yes so thats why I went for it...We will see how my appointment goes on the 19th...

Humm... I didn't do the glucose test until around 24 weeks, I am 34 weeks and still haven't had the Strep B test - maybe at my appt next week? Not sure.

I didhave blood work in my first trimester but it was just routine stuff - CBC, iron, B12 etc. I declined the genetic testing or that would have been more labs around 14 weeks I think.

Good luck on the 19th! I hope that you like that Dr better

I had to do 2 glucose tests. The first one was around 16 weeks and they did that because my BMI was 40 when I got pregnant (even though it was 57 before) so I don't know why they'd have you do an early one unless you are still overweight also. But I can take the glucose tests cause I had lap band. The second glucose test was the normal one at around 26 weeks.
