I didn't tell you not to have a baby.... in a nutshell, I stated that it was my opinion that waiting until after being banded would be wisest, especially since you've already had a miscarriage. If you can find the sentence where I said you shouldn't have a baby because you miscarried, please point it out.
I answered your original question-- I got banded first so I could be at a healthier weight and therefore have a better chance at a healthy, successful pregnancy.
Best of luck to you on your decision.

I got pregnant a few years after my band, so mine wasn't close at all. I will say that my experience of being pregnant was probably a LOT better at a lower weight and my band really helped me manage my pregnancy weight gain.
Banded 03/22/06 276/261/184 (highest/surgery/lowest)
Sleeved 07/11/2013 228/165 (surgery/current) (111lbs lost)
Mom to two of the cutest boys on earth.
Erica why don't you give Weigh****chers or something like a solid try. Lose some weight, get in tip top shape, get pregnant (stay healthy), and then band later. You may say well if I could lose the weight without WLS then why would I have it anyway. Well, yes,we all can lose weight. It is the keeping it off that WLS gives you a better chance at.
I don't know what your stats are?
Another reason why I say lose now, band later is that some banded people are never the same after a pregnancy - they can't seem to get restriction or get restriction with issues. The enthusiasm of having the Band cand get lost. There may be some issues with the band shifting its position during pregnancy - it may be why behaves differently. I've had my band for 5 years so I think even with a pregnancy at this point I have so much scar tissue cementing my band in place that it won't budge .
If you got banded and pregnant early pre-op (NOT recommended at all), you would have your band loosened so that you could eat good whole foods. Without saline or not enough saline, I am like pre-op - this feature of the band is both a curse and a blessing;).
Good Luck with whatever you decide.
Best,
Leila
