Pain at the top of my ribcage.......

Hey!  It seems that I only complain or need advice when I post, but I have another question......

I am 18 weeks along.....have had constant and severe nausea and vomiting the entire way.  But that is nothing new since my RNY 3 years ago (I lost my job and had to go on disability because all of my surgery complication issues)

I have an appointment on Tuesday with my surgeon, but yesterday evening I started with pain in the middle of my chest right along the band line of my bra.  Like in the middle, at the top, of my ribcage.  The last time I had this pain, it was the beginning of a stricture.

I am always concerned, when I have any abdominal.chest pain, that something could or might be wrong with the baby...........I am awaiting a call back from the OB, but thought someone might be able to help.

If it is a stricture, can it be repaired while I am pregnant?

Thanks and hugs,

Sandy

I had the same issues after surgery, but I was not pregnant. The pain I had also radiated to my upper back between my shoulder blades. Come to find out, it was an ulcer. I had an EGD to confirm and it was the beginning stages of an ulcer. They gave me Nexium and within 2 days the pain was gone. I took Nexium while I was pregnant with my daughter... so that is an option to try if you have any.

Oh, goodness! I don't know about a stricture, but I did have pain like that ... baby was all up in my ribs for a lot of my pregnancy, and it caused the same symptoms. I hope you get relief soon!

do you still have your gall bladder?

Thanks everyone for the responses!  Every new ache, pain, etc worries me.  I guess because I miscarried last year and have been told that I could never conceive, let alone carry a baby.

Liz - no.....they removed my gallbladder when I was having similiar pains about two years ago....

Thanks Again!

Hugs,

Sandy

This may sound kind of strange, but I had my gall bladder removed when I was 19- 10 years ago, and I will still get what I call "phantom" pains like that- Left or right side, where everything feels pretty tender and it even hurts to walk. It's never been anything too serious. Just a thought since you did have your gall bladder removed.
