GBS
I tested positive for it. Anyone have any problems with passing it to the baby after getting the IV antibiotics. Of course I scared myself and googled and saw all the things the baby can get from it, including pneumonia and meningitis.
Thanks a lot

Nope. Although I did have c-sections. I found out I was positive with my 2nd and after that you're just considered positive with future babies and they never tested me again after that when I had my 3rd and 4th babies and my dr. won't check me this time either, but he says it's because I'm having a c-section and won't matter cuz I won't have the opportunity to pass it on. With my 2nd one, even though I WAS having a c-section, my Dr. went ahead and gave me the antibiotics right before my operation. With my 3rd and 4th I didn't have the test or the antibiotics. If you're delivering vaginally you WILL need and get the antibiotics before you deliver and make double and triple sure that you ask and receive them before that baby even gets close to coming out. Shoot, I'd cross my legs and hold her in to be sure they gave them to me before I delivered if I was delivering vaginally. lol But if you have to have a c-section, then don't worry about it.
I was GBS positive with Maryn. Even if you go into labor and have no time for antibiotics, the baby will still be just fine.
I had no time for an epi or even my IV with Maryn because she came so quick. She was in the NICU for other reasons, but because I never had a chance to get my antibiotics, they gave them to her as a precaution. They tested her over the next few days and all tests came back negative. So I passed nothing on to her.
So, if you don't get drugs, she will. Don't google anything else because you will drive yourself crazy.

Can you pass it on to the baby? Yes. But Group B Strep is very common, and lots of women deliver vaginally with no problems or complications. Don't focus so much on the horror stories. They will make you crazy. It CAN be serious, but just make sure you get the antibiotics, and we'll all hope for the best for you and your baby.
