Traveling with a 9 month old (long)
Yeah, my husband and I each had a suitcase and a carry on, plus the diaper bag. Pretty much all the carry on stuff was for Rowan. We could maybe have taken less, but I am still pumping breast milk at times so I had to take my pump along and we were going to a small town so I had to take a lot of food items that I wouldn't be able to get very easily where we were going. It was very handy to take a decent sized blanket that I could spread on the floor while we were waiting to board so Rowan could stretch his legs and play a bit. I also took a sling since I ended up carrying him around the airport more than using the stroller since I would have to take him out of the stroller and put it through the scanner at security anyway. Since your mom will be able to hold the baby, you probably don't have to worry so much about having a stroller.
Oh, also have someone buy you a pack of dipers before you get there so you only have to pack what you need for the flight!
