Is Clomid safe after RNY?
Just wondering if anyone here had PCOS and had RNY? We are not trying to get pregnant of course yet since I'm only 7 months post op. Just wondering if you may had to use Glucophage and Clomid or injections to still conceive. I know RNY doesn't cure PCOS, but it does help with fertility. Sometimes it may still be hard to conceive after RNY and I was wondering if you had to use fertility medication was it safe to do do with your RNY and did it help?
I am currently TTC and I have severe PCOS. I was on metformin and clomid previous to my rny and was resistant to the clomid. I am again on the 2 drugs and have had to pregnancies, unfortunately both ended in MC. I am again trying and on the 2 drugs, 1500mg of Metformin a day and 100mg of clomid CD5-9. Actually am on CD13 as of now. I guess it depends on the individual and their medical issues. I don't ovulate without the clomid, but was resistant to it before WLS. Losing the weight has definitely helped.
YES to all of the above...lol
I had PCOS, I had RNY, I took Clomid, and Glucophage and did have a baby after years of TTC. I still had issues and it took a while, and still have PCOS, but being down 130+ lbs definitely made it a lot easier. There are no issues with Clomid for RNY patients other than it may not absorb as well.

I also have pcos. I took clomid/iui and was clomid resistant. We were going to start injectibles when I was called to a long jury duty case and so conceived my daughter just on metformin. With my son we weren't going to do the fertility route again so I asked to be put back on metformin to regulate my cycles and conceived again. And my husband has extremely low sperm counts as well. Surgery I am sure helped me conceive, but did not cure the pcos or insulin resistance. good luck. Shari
