Pregnant... again!
Hello Hello!!
Well, Quinten is 16 weeks old today and I just discovered that I am 5 weeks pregnant - wowser! This wasn't planned AT ALL -- but we are thrilled! We tried for 3 years for Paige, we tried for 3 years with Quinten, and ended up having him with the help of IUI, and now... BAM... we had sex ONE TIME in March and I guess that's all it takes. (We had house guests almost the entire month). I called my dr and he got me in for a sono yesterday afternoon since I have a history of miscarriage and ectopic - the sac looks as it should at this point... my blood work looks good - now we just pray and trust God for thinking I can handle this!
Just had to share... tripping out a little! 3 December babies!

Baby (I'm saying girl) EDD 12/7/10

OMG!!!! Congrats Kim!
That is kinda how it went for us too.... Bailey was through IUI, Baby #2 was conceived when Bailey was 4 months old but sadly lost, Bella was conceived on our own after 5 failed IUI attempts, and during our month break waiting to start IVF, and Carter (EDD 7/22/10) was conceived on my second cycle when Bella was 4 months old! Bella and Carter will be 12-13 months apart! :)

Wow! My head is spinning for you! Congrats!
Were you exclusivley breastfeeding? Were you still without periods or did you have your first post-partum one?
I only ask because I was going to go without any birth control for the first few months, as I plan on exclusively breastfeeding. I know it's not nearly fail-proof, but I just wanted to see what your experience was!
Thanks again and congrats on your 3rd little miracle!

Amanda,
The breastfeeding only works for BC as long as the baby is still nursing at night. If your baby sleeps all night (which I think is classified as 5 hours straight) then you'll need to use a back up. I honestly would be afraid to rely on breastfeeding as BC, unless it's not a big deal if you do get pregnant again.

Leila,
I really don't think the Dr.s know exactly what it is about sleeping through the night that makes BF'ing not realiabe for BC. I think it may have something to do with the hormone levels produced (or not produced) by going that long without nursing. Remember you ovulate BEFORE you get your period. So by waiting to get your period before starting BC, you could very easily end up pregnant.

Howdy!
I planned to BF, I took the classes before my daughter, I read books - I was an Earth mama - I gave birth naturally, my babies latch beautifully... but I HATE breastfeeding. My boobs are like tube socks after surgery and I'm not wrestling with these things in public, put aside the embarrasing floopy part, realize that the suffocating your child isn't really as easy as it may seem, I can't handle them and feel confident. I was never sure how much I was producing, my back was always killing me, I never slept, I felt like a cow... BF, sadly, isn't for me. I breastfeed my daughter for 4 months and once a day for 2 more. My son I BF for only 5 weeks. I plan to try, God willing, if we are blessed with another healthy baby.
Anyway - I had 1 period before the one I got March 2nd - which was my last before getting pregnant. My Dr warned and told me to go on BC, but I didn't listen because we NEVER have been very successful in the baby making dept. He also said that there is a 50% chance of miscarriage if you get pregnant within 3 months, not considering my personl history.
