How to deal?

I got pregnant 6 months out of surgery with 20 pounds left to go. I am currently 19 weeks and struggling with weight. I continue to weigh myself daily and I fret over the gain. I have gained 4 pounds to date but it is soooo difficult for me to just eat and remember it is for a baby. I am so scared I am going to gain all the weight back and not be able to get it off. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? Or do I just have to figure out a way to deal with it and be okay and gain weight without wanting to diet and control it? I know I can control the weight gain but it won't be in the best interest of the baby....

You NEED to gain something for the baby - 4 pounds is nothing. I am almost 34 weeks and have gained 11 - granted I am over 3 years out so I got to "get used" to my thinner body before I got pregnant.

Your tool will still be there when the baby comes - you'll get the weight off!! Continue to eat for a healthy baby!

I got pregnant six months after surgery as well.  I noticed that we had the same surgery date.  I am actually due on 09/05/2010.  At first I was extremely concerned about the weight gain.  I was constantly on the scale trying to make sure that I was gaining too much, but then I realized that one of my main reasons for having the surgery was so that I would one day be able to have a baby.  So with that in mind, I was comforted in knowing that this was going to be a life changing experience that I had always dreamed of. (But that's just me!)  I have looked at many on the posts on this board and there have been countless women in our exact same position and after their pregnancies they were still able to use their tool and lose down to their goal weight.  If I were you I would concentrate on having a healthy baby; be selective of what you intake, and walk to help burn some of those calories.  I am sure that as long as you stay focused, after having this baby you will still be able to reach your goal weight!

I recommend you go to a psychologist over it.  The first 6 mos after surgery is a mind-frack anyway and adding pregnancy to it is hard.

The problem is having a baby is about the baby -- another human life.  You might be in denial about that.  You should get some extra help if you can.

I was just like you...so many thoughts went throu my big head...
I didnt want to gain any weight because of the surgery and I still had alot more to lose.
I started to think i was being very selfish....then I found out I was preggers with twins..lol
so even to I didnt want to gain weight..I was hungryyyyyyyyyyyyy!!
I was 350 before wls, 230 when I got pregnant and after I gave birth to the girls I was 250
now im down to 213..its hard and I have been stuck at 213 for the past 3 months now
but its my fault because I went back to some of my old eating habbits while I was pregnant.
Im now going to join weigh****chers and get back on track..I still want to reach my goal
of 180.
All you got to think about is that little bundle of joy inside you...
good luck and best wishes.
