Pain Meds that aren't NSAID's for RNY patients?
Take some Excedrin Migraine. The caffeine in it should help, but honestly, it sounds like you're having a spinal headache (and the advice you're getting from the anesthesiologist is crap. Laying down can make it better. I think Bridget explained all that I would've said about that.)
As long as you are taking medication for preventing ulcers, like all RNY patients should be taking for the rest of their life, an occasional ibuprofen for a few days to a week isn't going to cause you to all of the sudden develop an ulcer. It's when you take them frequently and NOT take your ulcer medication that cause the problem. (I take Pepcid religiously and do not take any ibuprofen or NSAID's and STILL develop ulcers, but I think I'm in the minority on that one. I'd have to take Protonix and Carafate DAILY to keep my ulcers from forming and my insurance won't pay for Protonix, so we just stick with the Pepcid and deal with the ulcers when they pop up.) And heck, when you're hurting that bad, what's an ulcer? LOL
But seriously, try the Excedrin Migraine, but I honestly believe it's the lovely spinal headache and you probably need a blood patch. At any rate, I hope you get relief from something!

I called the anesthesiologist at the hospital and am going in to have a blood patch done- I'm done with this painful headache! He said what I was describing to him was a spinal headache. I especially had sensitivity to light today when we went out for a ride and that is another symptom. So tonight, hopefully I will be headache-free!!! Thanks everyone!
