Oh I'm glad you posted this.  I've been shopping around for umbrella strollers for Alex.  The ones I like and getting good reviews are $150+!

I just bought the precious planets fisher price umbrella stroller. It was 50. I read it had good reviews. It has a little net pocket for diapers and wipes and a cup holder. I should be getting it in less than a week. So I will let you know if I like it.

For my second I did not buy the travel system because the stroller is so bulky. I swear by Mclaren, you do not have to hunch and they recline. They are like 150-200 but check out craigslist for good resales. Trust me you will never use anything else. I actually had snap and go for infant carseat in beginning then transferred to Mclaren when she got bigger.

For about $100 you can get a Mclaren Volo. Nice tall handles, seat is huge and will fit a 4yr old easily. Seat is mesh so it allows for airflow. I bought one of these just for going to Disney when my daughter was a preschooler. It doesn't recline but seat is comfortable. This thing was a lifesaver!

I hate umbrella strollers. They're too small, kids can't sleep in them good and an all around pain in the butt in my personal opinion and experience. I would rather use my single stroller that folds down easily, pop it in the back of my van and there it stays. Baby can lay down, sit up, recline and be comfortable and have room to move. Then there's the issue of having a hood thing to pull over them to shield them from the sun. Plus, it's easier to just pop your infant carrier into the stroller cuz when they're so little, umbrella strollers are worthless. Plus, when they're sleeping in their car seat, you don't want to wake them up to transfer them to the umbrella stroller. You can just pop open the regular stroller and pop in the car seat and you still have a sleeping infant.

I am 5ft 9 and hubby is 5ft 11... I bought a Graco super lighweight small umbrella stroller at Target before a trip to Chicago thinking it would be easier to use. I liked it because it reclined some, and had a tray for cup/snacks and a little basket underneath. Seemed great in the store. Got it home, put it together...hated it. I have to walk to the side of it to pu**** because the handles are a bit lower then expected so my steps are too long and hit the wheels. Do I still have it, yes, do I like to use it, no..lol
There is a Chicco one that seemed nice that I saw for about $69
I would recommend trying to push the sample ones if they have them on display and you can or even visiting a resale boutique and doing the same thing. Saves time and money and gives you godo ideas.

i sooo gave up on the travel system... to heavy and bulky for me... i looooove my baby jogger city mini. its very light weight easy to fold (one hand litterally), tall handles, easy to move around AND you can get the attachment to use it with a baby seat like a travel system.  but i paid about 200$ for the stroller. I am only 5'5" and umbrella strollers are horrible! I say if you have your heart set on the travel system check out craigs list or even ebay. maybe you can find a better lightweight stroller than the umbrellas but used and cheaper. My vote though (my first time round there was nothing you could say to get me to not register for that travel system) would be to CAN the travel system for being BULKY and HEAVY and find a good lightweight stroller that you love and can serve both purposes. many strollers now can accomidate the baby seats... though not so matchy-matchy in the long run i think you might be happier :)

I got a Graco stroller for my shower, DH has used it and likes it, he said it's easy to unfold and use and pretty lightweight (I have yet to use it b/c I prefer to wear Matty, so I have no clue if he is right LOL) My car seat also snaps right into it, so DH liked that feature too.

This is it -

LOL...OK...Now I feel like a midget...I think I'm the shortest person to reply to your post!  I can stretch myself out to 5'2" if whomever is measuring is generous. My husband is 6'1".  I have no idea what's out there now in umbrella strollers...I just used the cheap one from Walmart when my son was small - it was about $15.  I had the bigger one for bigger trips but for quick trips I just used the umbrella.  I was going to mention the extenders for the handles - I've seen them but never bought them...I told my husband to suck it up! - and there are also little net 'bags' that can hang from the straps for the small things like cups, bottles, small toy, a few diapers, whatever.

I also agree with another poster. The McClaren light weight stroller is the best! I'm 5'10 and I can push that with no issues. The handles are tall! They do run around 100.00.
