Anybody Else Working Like a Crazy person?

So...in order to get ready for maternity leave, I have train at least two people to do my job.  Have you ever noticed how smart you must be when you try to train others and they have no clue?  It sure is hard to train them too when they dont want to learn, and they say ever 5 freakin' seconds, "this is too hard!".  Anyway, I spend all day training them, auditing them, and making sure they dont leave the work a mess, and then I GET nothing done.  So...I have been doing a crazy amount of overtime trying to keep my work caught up.

Anybody else wanna vent about training people to do what you do?  It sure is frustrating!

You hit the nail on the head when you said "they don't WANT to learn."  I'm sure the problem isn't that they're incapable... it's that they're LAZY and are probably used to having someone take over because they have the attention span of a fruit fly.

I work with a lady like that.  Before I even get started explaining to her how something is done, she has already resigned herself to failure, so she never even gives herself a chance because she thinks it's going to be "too hard."  I even wrote her out step-by-step, foolproof instructions, and she STILL messed up.  She is probably the laziest person I have ever met... and she's constantly pawning her work off on other people by saying she "doesn't know how."  It's ridiculous!

I totally feel your pain.  Stupid people suck!  LOL

I am right there with you! The worst part is that the girl I am training is teriffic I am just not sure that she is up to the job. We recently (friday) had someone else in the department quit which leaves me and 2 stupid men who think that they know it all, refuse to work efficiently (if at ALL!) and run their own companies during business hours. Well my temp is the daughter of our shop forman (Like I said LOVE him and his daughter - but I have to play "bad cop") and a junior in college majoring in design. I know she can draw anything but I am having a hard time getting her to realize the severity of the drawings that we do. Things are being produced off of what we draw and there are tons of intricacies (sp?). The kicker is that I have 2-3 fridays in April to train her and then after May 11th because of her couse load. Well I am due 5/21 and go to 1/2 days 5/17. My company doesn't have training procedures or documents so I have also been writing them as I go along. I have already given her everything that I have written up hoping that she'll do some "home work" on her own. The men that I work with want her to fail and will do just about anything to make her leave (they did it to the last woman and try to do it to me) so that they can run things the way they want to (they are in for a VERY rude awakening!!).

So not only am I now taking on the work of the co-worker that left (which I am used to doing some of - I brought her in and shared my work load with her 3 years ago) BUT I have to do my own work and train someone new.

OK there's my rant! lol I'll do what I have to but everyone is going to have to be understanding that things are going to take longer. I also have to figure out who is going to do all of my other tasks besides drawings - I am also the project manager and do a lot to assist the owner, as well as purchasing of certain products and coordination of paint and other materials.

ETA - I've been reminded many times that they survived before I was hired (7 years ago) and they'll survive the 12 weeks I am out! I just want a stable comapny to come back to! lol I also know that I can only do so much before I go out.

I haven't started training the lady who's filling in for me but I know it's going to be a nightmare.  Not because she can't learn but because everything I do is so freaking complicated.  Nothing is simple and nothing can really be put into a written procedure that can be followed to the letter.  We'll see how it goes...I just know I won't get a real "maternity leave".  I'll be working from home.

See Sara...you just hit the nail on the head! I work from home for an insurance company and basically I help the employers enroll their members on line.  There is no set manual for this.  You HAVE to be analytical and USE the brain God gave you.  They want it down like you would give it to infants.  There is no training manual and there is no set way to do it.  You basically have to figure out what the employer wanted and give it to them IF they can have it.  If they can't have it, you have to let them know.  To me, my job is ridiculously simple.  To them...its freakin' brain surgery.

Unfortunately, I am the ONLY one in the freakin' company that knows how to do it.  I keep sayin' I just know that I will working with Bella on one side and the computer on the other because 12 weeks out would be devastating with NO ONE doing my work, and even more devastating if they dont get this and mess it up.

Its insane and they fascilate between "you need to break it down further for me" and "you are talking down to me"....what the hell do you want?

I am soooooo tired of this crap.  And heres the worst part.  I have been training them for a month and they still instant message me on every transaction.  UGH

Well, I am not that far out yet, and luckily I don't have to train anyone, there are 3 other people that will split my work while I am out and they are all awesome and already know what they're doing.

However, I am having issues at work! We had layoffs several months ago and one of the people that does what I do got laid off. The other 3 awesome ladies each took an easier part of her work load and I got the really difficult part which is like 2x the work of what the other ladies got. Now, they are again trying to add to my work load when I have repeatedly told them that I can't take any more on. No one is listening to me. I can handle A LOT of work because I am VERY organized and methodical in my work, and I've been doing it for a long time. They all recognize that I am good at my job, so for me to go to them and say "enough", should tell them something, but apparently it doesn't. I am just really tired of having nightmares about work every night and waking up every morning with hives because I am so stressed out. My hubby is pissed, because he can't believe they'd do this to me of all times when I am pregnant. He says "How dare they!". I love him for that! Anyway, sorry to hijack, I just wanted to add my vent and it really does help just to get it out.

I hope your ladies start giving a crap and learn your work so yuo don't come back to a mess!
