Formally introducing myself!
Hello everyone!
My name is Amanda and I joined OH years ago when initially researching WLS. I used to go into the chat room, and I used to have a profile on here, but the website has since changed.
Fast forward years later, I am now 4 1/2 years post-op Duodenal Switch surgery. I lost a total of 214 pounds, then got married and gained 10 pounds. (I don't know if it was getting married that made me gain the weight, or starting some bad eating habits [like drinking soda], or if it was the typical rebound weight that comes about the 3-4 year post-op mark.)
Anyways, hubby & I were using NFP (natural family planning) and chose to avoid intercourse on fertile days. We were planning on waiting to have children for a few years. We did both make the decision to not abstain on a day when we knew I would be fertile... so no surprise there, we now have a baby on the way! (It still surprised us though, because I have always heard of how difficult it is to conceive a baby, and so I guess in the back of my mind I just figured that it wouldn't happen to us on the very first time we "didn't follow the rules" if you know what I mean!)
I just wanted to say hello to everyone, and that I am so excited to be on this forum with all you wonderful women! I have so much to learn. I have so many questions and fears and doubts. Frankly, I am scared. Not just of labor & delivery (of course I am plenty afraid of that!) but also of my own parenting ability. I have never had to worry about another person besides myself before. (Well, my husband, but he can take care of himself for the most part! Plus when it comes to marriage, I still don't think I'm doing too good of a job caring for him!)
I am trying to get a pregnancy ticker, but it doesn't seem to let me update my profile/signature. So for now, here are my stats:
Name: Amanda
Age: 25 years old
Location: Akron, Ohio
WLS: BPD/DS in September 2005
Pregnancy: 24 weeks 5 days along with our first baby "Skrimp". We are due on July 20, 2010.
We don't know if we are having a boy or a girl, we want to wait until birth day to find out!
Well, if you made it this far, thanks for reading this and I look forward to getting to know everyone! God Bless, Amanda

Hi Amanda!
Congrats and welcome!
For some reason I gained 10 lbs after I moved in with my hubby.... for me it was bad eating habits (letting carbs back in).
Now after the baby I am holding on to that 10 lbs plus another 10lbs. Ugh.
Good Luck to you and baby Skrimp!
