What are belly bands and what are they for? I've seen them advertised, but had never heard of them.

From what I understand there are 2 different types. 1 can be used to make your regular pants fit longer, think of it like a tube top that you put over the top of your pants so you can leave them un-buttoned/zipped to make them comfortable.

The other kind is like a back brace that helps support the weight of your belly when you are bigger.

Hope that helps!

I have several of the BeBand belly bands from Target.  I wear them a lot.  For me, I like how they just smooth out the lumps and bumps a little and give me more of a "D" belly instead of a "B".  Now that my belly is really big, it tends to push certain pants down and the band helps with that too.

Here's a link.

I second the BeBands from Target- They were indispensible for the first half of my pregnancy until my pants fit better. I hear they are great post partum too, but I'll have to let you know in 8 weeks. They also help keep things in place. They are a LOT cheaper than the real things you find online, but work the same, even if they are a bit more plain. I liked that they looked as though I was wearing a shirt underneath my regular shirt when I still didn't quite need maternity shirts but the others started to look a little short.

I questioned them for a while as if I would really need them. I found some online a couple months back on sale and bought 2. Now I am so in LOVE with them!!!

It does look like you are just wearing another shirt but it helps hide so much. It hides pant panels if shirts are a little too short. It helps smooth out the bumps and lumps, like someone said, and after birth I am looking forward to using them while breastfeeding so when I lift my shirt up to BF I won't be showing a bunch of skin. I think I am looking forward to that the most.

I will probably be getting seeral more of these things. I'm disappointed I didn't have these things with my other 7 kids!!!
