The walls of the nursery are perfect except one space. I don't want to spend anymore money on the room because I've already gone over what I told my husband I would spend (not that he's that much of a tight a$$... I'm just frugal and don't want to spend money).
I want to do something on canvas, but have NO artistic abilities. I'm thinking handprints of me, DH, and my DD with some kind of quote, all painted in the colors of the nursery (girly, light). I've seen handprint trees before and that's kinda cute.
I'd love to get some more ideas! It doesn't have to be handprints... just something I could do on a canvas that doesn't require the ability to draw or paint anything elaborate. The room is shabby chic. We already have a big name thing for the wall and a monogram pillow so anything to do with her name or initials would be overkill.
I'm pretty much out of ideas and need help! Thanks!

Can you sew? Or know someone who can? You could get some canvas-like material or just a plain colored thicker fabric and put your handprints on some squares. You could then pick some coordinating fabric squares and leave a bigger plain colored box in the middle. Sew all those together for the front with some kind of coordinating backing which can just be one big length of fabric (a solid color or maybe one of the printed fabrics from the front....or something completely different).
Here's a sample of what I'm talking about:
Where the white squares are is where you could put your family's handprints or paint or print out words and then do an iron on transfer on those squares. This particular thing I did was a wall hanging and in the blank squares were pictures of this girl's family. In the middle square you can put the baby's name and then add their footprints, handprints and date of birth when the baby gets here. This wall hanging I did had fabric hanging tabs that you could put a wooden curtain rod through and then hang the rod on the wall. You can pretty much do any size you want. And it's a neat little keepsake to pass down to the baby too.

I can't see the pics (blocked @ work) but it sounds perfect!! I do sew and I totally already have transfer paper! I made all of the crib bedding (bumper, skirt, and quilt) and I have leftover fabric I can use from that. I needed to pull my machine out this weekend anyways and whip up some curtains (gathered balloon shades from eyelet fabric, oh it's going to be heavenly).
