Pregnant Bandster - Intro
Banded in 2007........and now preggers! (8+ weeks, 2 good u/s so far, another one on Friday)
I just moved to NYC and saw a new surgeon yesterday. I walked in there SO afraid she would demand to unfill me since I'm pregnant ....... and she actually gave me a fill! She just finished a clinical study of bands while pregnant and believes firmly that you should keep your fill as long as it's comfortable (no vomiting, heartburn, pain, etc). I was SO happy to hear that!
She gave me so much good info about how, nutritionally speaking, there is no need for me to increase calories or gain weight.....and best of all she did it in a non threatening way, unlike both of my OB-GYNs who were pretty stern lecturers about it!
Haven't seen a ton of bandsters on this board as I've perused it.......is there a separate lapband board, or just this one preggo board?
Looking forward to getting to know everyone - I was a member on OH for 2007-2008 but lost touch and am now back under a new name. Preggo brain, I forgot my old login!!
Hope everyone's doing great!

Congratulations. There are a few of us here. I did have a major unfill when I got pregnant at my surgeon's insistance but I'm actually glad I did. I didn't need the added stress of worrying about my eating on top of being pregnant and I've done really well with my weight. So, to each his own...if you start having trouble, you can always go for the unfill.
Good Luck!

I am a bandster as well. I called my surgeon when I found out I was pregnant. He told me as long as we were both healthy and getting the nutrients needed, then he would leave the band alone, but if the baby wasn't growing the way it should or I stayed sick, etc... Then he would do an unfill. I did have some morning sickness, but it was somewhat normal and the baby is fine so we didn't bother with the surgeon.
We're here! Kudos to your doc, my surgeon is the same way. I did have a small unfill for weeks 8-14 when I was having a lot of nausea, but once that cleared up we put it back. I didn't have any band troubles at all while I was pregnant.
