Testing an old wives tale - baby's heartbeat & gender

Just curious - I know that the old wives tale says that a fetal heartrate over 140 is usually a girl and less is usually a boy - just wondering how accurate (IF at all that is)

Just for fun! What was your baby's heart beat and their gender?

We of course don't know but baby's heartbeat is consistently between 150-160 at my OB appts.

This has been true for me and my mom with all 3 of us.  My little girls HR has been 150-160 the entire time.  My mom had 2 girls and a boy, my brothers HR was always under 130, ours was 150-160 the whole time also.

I think it's a girl!!  You're strong girl, I would go CRAZY not knowing this whole time lol!

It was not true for me or my SIL.  If it was I'd have a girl and she'd have a boy.

Matthew's heart rate was always between 140-165 depending on how active he was.  It was never as low as they says boys heart rates are.  My nieces heart rate was always low 130-140's.  We just knew she was having a boy....wrong.  Everyone kept saying I was having a girl based on the heartrate and how I was carrying.  But, everyone was wrong. 

I admire your strength in staying team green.  There is NO WAY I could have done it.

true for me as well, baby girls heartbeat hasnt been below mid 150's at every visit   =)

Emad's heartbeat was in the high 140s to low 150s....and of course...he is ALL BOY!

Baby girl's heartbeat is generally between 130 & 140 unless she's particularly active.

With my first, a girl, it was always up around 150-160. This time it is too, last check it was 158, and they say it's a girl. But according to the wives tales, I carry like I'm having a boy, both this time and last time. I really don't think there's any truth to it, but it's fun to try to guess.

I think I said this to you before, but I'm saying you're having a girl. That was even more confirmed to me by the way you're carrying.

That being said, here's my kids, their heart rates and gender:

1st - 120's Boy
2nd - 145-150 Girl
3rd - High 140's Boy
4th - 135-142 (had a fetal doppler then) Boy
5th - 145-150 Girl

So, you can see that the old wives tale doesn't hold true for my babies. I think you can tell more by how you carry. I've always guessed what women were having by the way they carry.
