Gastric ulcers???
OK I know this isn't pg related but I post so much to you I wasn't sure which forum to go to...I have been having horrible stomach pain, it was Sun and it was terrible, not any better by Monday so I went to the local Patient First. He suspects gastritis or gastric ulcers, he sent me home with meds to help with the acid/etc but no pain meds, told me to take tylenol. I suspect he is thinking anything for pain would further irritate my stomach, which I can completely understand, but I am SO miserable, and in so much pain. Would an ulcer hurt all the time? I have a call in to my surgeon's office cuz I am really worried that there is something very serious wrong here...and of course, I am supposed to be going on vacation Friday...uggh!
Do any of you have ulcer problems? It is just a matter of having such a small stomach that when you fill it up with ulcers, that is what is so bad? I am trying to eat things that will not irrirate it but nothing appeals & I just feel terrible. I have gained some weight back that I had lost when I had Brennan so that is of course freaking me out too.

I've had several ulcers since my RNY surgery almost 3 years ago. I'm pretty sure I have one (or more) now and that's why I've been having more trouble trying to eat. I got this way back in September and October, was hospitalized in October for 3 weeks, found out I had ulcers again and was at least glad it was nothing majorly serious. But, I'm pretty sure I have more now.
If you've had RNY, it's SO important to still take your Pepcid as prescribed. That's like, for life. Even with my Pepcid I still get ulcers, but I can't really take anything else while pregnant (that I know of, haven't really asked).
I'd go see your surgeon. Don't know if there's anything they can do, but it's worth a shot. They're probably not going to give you anything for pain while pregnant unless you're dying or it's totally interfering with your ability to eat. If you're not pregnant (I can't tell if you are or not.....sorry!), then I'd demand something for pain if you're miserable but maybe they're not giving you anything like that because maybe it would make the ulcer worse? I don't know, but call your surgeon and see what they say.
I hope you start feeling better!

I have had ulcers as a post-op. I was perscribed carafete and it helped in about 2 days, no pain meds - you are right they will irritate the ulcers. Try to eat soft bland foods until you get in to see the surgeon - that might help some. I would also take pepcid that'll take the edge off , it certainly won't hurt.
I hope that you feel better!
And YES my ulcers hurt all the time and it was horrible - I ended up in the ER curled up in a ball crying my eyes out. If it gets that bad please go to the ER - they'll do the scope right there in the hospital and see what's going on. You'll have to have an endoscopy.
