I'm 33 weeks and got a call from the hematologist today that last week lab results show my b12 is still low, despite that I get a monthly shot....so he thinks I need to come in and get them weekly....

And then he said my Ferritin levels ( stored iron) were lower....They are 11....

(my last iron transfusion I got was in December...and in December it had gotten up to about 34...

I find this to be so depressing.  Overall I am just not sure how concerned to be.  When they tell me that the Ferritin levels should be closer to 80-100 and mine started at 2 this past fall...and still only got up into the 30's....It seems as if they aren't being proactive enough to me..

Then I wonder, am i going to have to get iron transfusions for the rest of my life....Not only do I not like getting stuck with the IV..but arranging childcare during the week for my other children (20 month old) isn't easy either...

anyone relate?????

Oh, I'm sorry.

I don't have any advice.  My ferritin is at 6 and now I'm worried...especially since I don't have insurance at the moment or access to a doctor.

I suggest heme iron.

It works amazingly well.  I didn't think it would since none of the ionics did.. but heme did.

It's not cheap, but it WORKS.
