OH man could I be in trouble???

Ok so I asked for advice on the gluecose test a week or so ago and decided against it.  However I had some issues arise (blacking out while driving with the kids in the car and almost falling out of a chair at work for no reason) I switched Drs and the new doc said I HAD to do the test they had to find out what was going on.

Something is wrong I think because I had no issues with the test.  I mean I got really jittery and my face turned red and I had hot and cold flashes but no vomiting or pooping or anything from it.  Could there be something wrong with me that I was able to consume 50 grams of sugar and have no problems?

I had the open RYN in December 08.

Advice please!

 Hey there....

Of course I am no doc but my own personal experience is that off and on I can handle more sugar than other times....I am about 5.5 years post op and still have some issues....when I took the glucose test I did have some bad diahrea afterwards and then I can eat a whole candy bar and be fine.....ugh.....so for me it goes and comes.....

I hope your test turns out okay and they get to the bottom of what you were having problems with.....

Take care,

Ann

The blood draw types of tests are more accurate for us.  Maybe you could do that also just to be sure???

Hope it all works out.  When I have too much sugar, I get shaky and sweaty, my heart races, and I feel like I'm going to pass out.  Going to sleep is about the only remedy.  I don't tend to have intestinal problems.  It's still dumping whether you puke, poop, or just feel like crap.

I hope they get your issues figured out!

I feel your pain! I almost blacked out once in the car too a few weeks ago. They did the two hour blood draw, and I passed it. But I still struggle with keeping my sugars high enough. You probably were having a "good" (or bad!) day for sugar. Once in a while I can handle quite a bit in one sitting, but I never know, so that's why I pushed really hard for the two hour blood draw. Sometimes I throw up, sometimes it's the other end, and a lot of time it's just a really crappy feeling like you described for a while. Like the PP said, it's still dumping. Hopefully they figure out what's wrong- mine ended up being that I have reactive hypoglycemia, so if I do eat something with too much sugar my body produces too much insulin and then I crash, feeling really sick, blacking out, etc. There's nothing to do for that medically, other than make sure I am eating wisely.

It could be your blood pressure too. I know I have those same syptoms when I dump. In fact, they are very similar to when my bp drops like a stone. Good luck figuring this all out.
