Extreme Dizziness?

I had a bout of the most extreme dizziness / vertigo last night.  It hit while I was laying down (sleeping).  My eyes actually rolled to the back of my head, couldn't focus, etc.

My blood pressure has been pretty low.

Has any experienced something like this before?  I'm going to call my OB too.

I was up and moving around when it happened, thought that I was going to pass out on my way to the bathroom at work. The OB's nurse (I called the "hotline") told me it was probably a combo of low blood sugar and low blood pressure. I was told to eat more and get some electrolites. I've been eating now about every 90 minutes and I drink a vitamin water or a powerade zero every day - so far it's only happened once.

Feel better!

Thanks!  It is def low blood pressure.  Mine has been around 90/50 on a good day.  I can't believe it because I am so overweight (not a WLS poster child here).

I can't seem to get my eyes focused is a big problem.

Mine hovers about there too. Dr also suggested more salt. Of course I prefer mine in the form of tater chips and french fries! lol

LOL When the BP drops I am all over the chips! Try drinking Smar****er if you can find it. It has electrolites in it. I make my Kool Aid with it cause of that. I can't drink plain water (been a few weeks since I had it so I might try again) so the Smar****er really helps me out.6666666

I've been experiencing the same thing.  It's definitely a combo of low blood pressure and dehydration.  I had the same thing with my last pregnancy and I was much heavier then (300lbs).

My OB and primary both didn't seem too concerned and said to drink lots of fluids and stand up slowly.  I guess they would rather me have low blood pressure than high blood pressure problems.

Take it easy, drink lots, and try to be mindful of standing up etc.  A call into your OB wouldn't hurt either just to rule out other more serious issues.  Might want to have your vitamin levels checked again just in case.

I have had BP problems even before I got preggers. I drink SMar****er when it's bad and just try to get 2 liters a day in. Now that I am preggers I just work on getting the 2 liters in and not worry what I am drinking. I have problems when I am in bed too with it. Be careful with the low BP, it's no fun passing out.

I've been notorious for having low blood pressure during pregnancy (especially during my 2nd, 3rd & 4th pregnancies. It's been around 100/60 this pregnancy, but was in the 70-90/45-50 range in those others.......pretty low). I was worried because I was having horrid headaches and thought I was having high blood pressure so when I went to my OB I told them about my headaches and I though maybe it was from my BP. So when they took it that time (this was during my 2nd pregnancy when all this started) my BP was 80/50. They said that because my BP was so low, that it could be causing the bad headaches as well.

Now during this pregnancy, I've been having more of the dizziness. And it happens when I'm laying completely still and I almost feel like I'm about to pass out. I just lay really still and take some deep breaths until it passes. I don't dare move. It eventually goes away. It's good that you will be checking with your OB. Even though dizziness and stuff is normal in pregnancy, there's a lot of different causes. Make sure you're not sleeping on your back though. That can cut off blood flow to major blood vessels and can cause your BP to go low and can cause the type of symptoms you were having.

I hope it goes away and you feel better!

Thanks for all these replies.  I'm sorry I didn't write back to everybody but was taking it easy yesterday.

I went to the OB today and my low blood pressure of 90/50 is now 130/80.  So they want me back on Tuesday to see what the heck it's going to be then.  LOL.

I had a good amount of salty food yesterday.  I guess it worked!
