Ultrasound today

Well, I had an ultrasound today and was so excited that my husband actually got to come to it. This is the first one he's been too. Well, it sucked. The lady wasn't very personable and when we tried asking questions, it was always, well, I don't know, you'll have to speak to the doctor, I'm not allowed to say. The baby wouldn't turn it head so we couldn't get a good view of her face at all, just barely a little bit of a profile, but not a full one. It was hard to see what was what and the tech didn't explain what we were looking at, I had to constantly ask what things were. She said she couldn't get a real good view of the genitals but from what she saw, it still looks like a girl, which is nice since we have the room already decorated . I had to ask how much the baby was measuring to weigh and she said 2lbs 2 oz. I asked where my ultrasound pictures were and she said she didn't have any for me, that she never got a good shot for me. I am pissed off. How can you do an ultrasound for 30 minutes and not give me at least one shot, I don't care if it was good or not, I wanted a picture of my baby!!!! My husband was upset that he took time off of work for that too, so now he says he's not going to be going to any more of my ultrasounds cause they suck and he can't even see anything anyway.
On a good note, I have my OB appointment next week which the doctor will go over the results with me, and that will start my 2 week visits. I can't believe I'm already getting down to that point. Time is going by fast now, in the beginning it was going by so slow, it was like I'd never get out of my first trimester, now I'm getting ready to start my 3rd!

Aww... that's too bad that you didn't get at least one picture of you baby!  You would have to know me to understand this statement.. I'm a whole lot sarcastic.... that said... If I were in your situation and your husband said he wasn't going to anymore ultrasounds, I would have to say, "Yeah, you're right.  They suck... I'm not going either!"  hehehe

It's nice that he could go with you today though.  It's so comforting to know they are right there with you every step of the way!  But, I also understanding having to work too!

Sounds like the pregnancy is coming along well though!

I think we got spoiled with our first baby. The doctors office was fancy and had it's own ultrasound tech right there, so they'd send you to the ultrasound room and then back to the doc to talk about it. Their ultrasound tech was fabulous and we could bring a video tape which they recorded the ultrasound onto. But we no longer live in that area and insurance won't cover that office, I'd travel the 1 hour if I could.

Sorry that this one sucked! My last one wasn't all that great either - I felt rushed. My hubby didn't make it but my Aunt drove 45 min to be with me. Usually they are great, but I am lucky, I get one a month so she better make up for it next monday!

YAY for the OB appt coming up.

I don't know how often they do growth ultrasounds, so I have no idea when my next one will be. It just figures that the one my husband actually gets to go to sucks.

So sorry you had a bad ultrasound! On this board I have heard a lot of women run into that problem. It seems like the u/s techs don't understand that they are in fact providing customer service. Their customer service is far more important than the customer service I would receive at lets say McDonald's or something. That moment you cannot get back! Sad!! They just don't get it! I feel like some people in the medical field feel they are high and mighty or something. I would complain but that is just because I am a customer service snob!! I hope your next u/s is much better and you get some great pictures! Have you come up w/ any names yet??

I know! It's like have a personality all ready!! You'd think that doing pregnancy ultrasounds would be a fun part of their day and they'd be excited and telling you what you're looking at. Apparently not with this lady. Plus not to even give me one freakin' picture, come on!

Anyway, yes we came up with a name, Harmony. I'm a music teacher and singer so it fits perfectly, my students really think it's cool. I told them if by chance there is another baby girl in their hiding we'll name her Melody.

That sucks for you guys! Geez, we only give birth a few given times in our lives if we're lucky and you'd think that these techs, nurses, docs or whomever, could at least give you the 30 minutes of satisfaction of being able to explain what you're looking at with your unborn child and at least give you one (even not clear) picture! Man, I got lucky last week with my tech. He was SO super nice and told me he'd make sure he got good pictures on the (free) DVD for my husband since he had to go to the van with our unruly little boys! LOL My 7 year old came in the u/s room with me and he even talked to her, asked her how she felt about her little sister and pointed things out on the TV screen for her as well. I was impressed! That's the kind of guy y'all needed today!

Well, hopefully everything was ok with her. Too bad you couldn't know that today and have to wait until next week to hear it from the OB. Sorry y'all had a bad experience!
