34 wk appt

Hey Everybody!  Well this was the last of the every 2wks appts.  When we go back, we start going weekly.  Bella is doing great, her growth has FINALLY slowed down so are NOT looking at a huge baby anymore(thank God).  She is 5.5lbs currently, HB 157 and yep...LIL GIRL WENT HEAD DOWN.

So...we are looking at a vaginal delivery...and the doc(oh how I love him!) was not angry at all at my weight gain thru the pregnancy like the previous docs.  He said..."you know, you gained a lil more than you are supposed to, but you'll get it off.  Looks good to me!".  So far, we have gained about 28lbs...& we were still overweight to begin with.  But you have to love a doc that doesnt rub it in!

So...next appt is the lovely GBS test and the weekly checks for effacement and dilation.

He did tell me that with her weight and development, if she were to come early he wouldnt be worried.  She would have to stay in neonatal a lil while for her age, but all in all, one healthy lil girl!

Gotta love a great appt!!!

Only thing of concern to me(he didn't mention it at all) is that my blood pressure has been creeping upward the last 4 weeks.  First appt there 118/70(I'm usually like 108/70), then it was 124/72, then 128/75, and today it was 131/83.  No one said anything, but I know that is getting kind of high.  Is that normal for the third trimester???

I'm glad everything is well!! As far as the blood pressure, with my last pregnancy, I had pregnancy induced hypertension which is was running higher than those numbers, it started around 24 weeks at like 145/80 and pretty much stayed there until around 36 weeks when it peaked at 167/110. That is when the doc decided to induce me at 37 weeks. I think if your doc thought there was an issue, he'd let you know. It's pretty normal for it to go up a little towards the end, I don't think yours sounds too worrisome.

Sounds like your new doc is awesome.  I was totally freaking out about gaining 5 pounds in one week at my last appointment and my doc was so nice about it.  She said she's not concerned at all.  Love her...we'll see what she says if I gain 5 more this week...lol.

We have our 34 week u/s today and then our 34 week appointment tomorrow.  At 28 weeks she was in the 53rd percentile for size so hopefully she's still managing her weight even if I'm not!  I had two quickie u/s's last week to measure fluid at my NSTs and she was finally head down.  Hopefully she stays that way.  Hell if I can tell what position she's in.  No matter her position she seems to think my bladder is her personal punching bag.

Yay! Glad that all went well!!

I was told not to worry about BP unless the bottom number hits 90. Even then there is some wiggle room

Yay for a healthy growing baby!

My blood pressure is always low too... like 102/68 low.... and it didn't go up in the 3rd trimester.

So it's good you're keeping an eye on it.  Watch for headaches and other signs of problems and call your doc right away if they start!

What type of headaches?  See I'm afraid I wont know the difference because I get headaches because of allergies anyway(and they are kicking up bigtime right now here in the south).  Believe it or not, yesterday was 70 degrees, today on the way to the doc we saw snow...then it stopped, it rained, that stopped, and its like 50 degrees.

Glad she flipped around and you can have a normal delivery! Glad you got great news at your appt.

And 131/83 is a great blood pressure. High is 140/90 is considered borderline/high, so don't worry.

Glad things are going well! My blood pressure did that in the last month or so of pregnancy- it didn't get super high, but I equated it with the increase in contractions and stuff I began to have as I dialated. It wasn't high enough to be a concern to the DR, but I noted it. You could be doing something similar. That is my own theory of course, but I did start to efface and dialate slowly and stuff and that seemed to cause the contractions, and the higher blood pressure. It is a type of preparation for delivery. Good luck!
