Unfortunately my youngest sister who's 19 and has always had a very distructive lifestyle is pregnant. She's not only smoking pot and ciggarettes, but she's with a man who likes to put his hands on her. Noone can make her change her mind or get her to change.
My other younger sister however had her son when she was 16 and she grew up quick and changed for the better.

I have never watched that show, but may look it up and make my teenage daughters watch it. I got pregnant when I was BARELY 16..at the time..I thought I could be a great mom, but as time progressed, and I realized baby daddy (who was 21 btw) was NOT going to be a good daddy. I came from a very religious home where sex before marriage was a HUGE NO NO...well, I got pissed at my mom and dad one night and had sex to spite them and guess what...I conceived a baby boy. My dad told me it was my choice how I handled this, as this was an adult decision, and I decided to make myself an adult way to early in life. He told me that mom and him WERE NOT under ANY cir****tances raising this baby for me. Well by the good graces of God, I found a wonderful couple looking to adopt a 2nd baby, they had just adopted their first about a year prior. I decided adoption was the best answer for me. I decided when I was around 3 months pregnant, and so through my entire pregnancy I just considered myself an incubator for the biggest gift you can give to someone in your life. I'm not saying it was not hard...I cried a lot of tears over that 9 months...but I KNEW I was giving my baby the best chance at a normal life that I could. The adoptive mom and I wrote letters back and forth through the pregnancy, and I wrote a letter to my son explaining to him how much I loved him, and that is why I chose this life for him. I do not know if they ever gave it to him or not. I will not ever look for him, as I do not want to interrupt his life...as quite frankly, I am NOT his mother. Now, if he ever looked for me, I would of course accept him with open arms. I have used this experience in my life over and over with my girls, and so far it has helped. It has not necessarly stopped them from having sex before they should have, but they have all been open and honest with me about it, so that we could make sure that they do not get pregnancy...but more importantly..that they do no catch a life threatening disease.
I love my mom to pieces and I feel she did exactly what she thought was best for me at the time, and I love her for that. I pray none of my girls have to go through this...but statistics say it is going to happen eventually....I pray we are not a part of a stastic. Great post!

I can't open the forum because babygaga is blocked from my office... but doesn't it make more sense to reach out to these young girls rather than crucify them?
I think it is horrible that she is smoking cigs or pot. However, I don't think that is limited to teens only. There are so many adults that are not responsible enough to have babies either. My mom and both of my sisters had teen pregnancies. My mom & my middle sister were better for it, but my oldest sister never grew up (she's now 36 and still wants to be a teenager because she feels like she lost her fun years...did I mention she has 5 kids now and that still hasn't helped her grow up?). I think it really depends on the person. I just saw an adult woman smoking a cigarette and she was obviously pregnant. And I am just as horrified when people smoke in the car or anywhere near children of any age. I don't care if your window is rolled down! It makes no difference. Anyway, I just wanted to say that some adults are bad too.
Mommy to 2 of the most beauiful little girls in the whole universe and still in love with my hubby of 8 years. LIFE IS GOOD!
