Ok-- so today's lesson...(Long)

Okay, so today's lesson is you and your baby needs water.  So, I had my first trip to L&D yesterday evening.  I started feeling a my normal worn down, ready for my day to end at 3-3:30 yesterday at work.  This isn't unusually, esp towards the end of the week.  So I finished up what needed to be done and then headed home about 4ish.  Headed to pick up my dog from doggy daycare, and headed home.  Well on the ride home I began to feel alot more cramps and getting very uncomfortable.  My ride is about 35 minutes home, but I was going a little slower due to not feeling well and heavy traffic.  So I got home and the contrations (I was calling cramps) were off and on with no real timing to them.  I didn't want to say anything to my hubby yet.  So I started dinner....after trying to eat, I realized, it was not getting better...more cramps and more often...so I told him I wasn't feeling well and headed to the bath....soaking usually helps me with my cramps.  My husband knew I wasn't feeling well when I agreed that he could clean up the kitchen downstairs...So the bath lasted about ten mins...and it wasn't helping I was cramping even more.  So I told hubby, it was time to head to L&D.  At this point my head was throbbing and I was pretty much cramping every five mins  and sometimes for a long time.  Well my trip there made me feel really good about the hospital I am going to...they were right on it got me in (and they were rolling)...checked my pee and then heart rate, etc.  So it was an easy fix...I WAS SUPER DEHYDRATED...my pee was so concentrated, the slip she showed me showed *** instead of numbers.  The worst you could be she said.  And why was I cramping?  Because in preggos, guess what contracts when are dehydrated...Your Uterus!  So I then realized I hardly drank at all yesterday...two cups at 24oz.  Hardly enough to keep me going.

So lesson, when you are this far along, your mind is shot, even counting your water is difficult!  SO I am going to start marking it in my food journal.  I had a ruff night sleeping still cramping after a liter of IV, but it has worn off this morning.

I have also reverted back to my 1st trimester throwing up and running to the bathroom symptoms.  But I understand that can happen!

Anyways ladies, lesson learned.  I am glad today is a work from home day, or I would have probably had to call in.

Everyone have a wonder weekend!  Stacey

Wow - glad that you and baby are OK! drink drink drink! I swear most days I am going to float away. It's barely 9:30 and I already have a good 48oz of water down.

Hope that you feel better today.

I had to learn that lesson the hard way several times in previous pregnancies. SUCKS! I'm glad you "learned your lesson" and everything is ok. Dehydration can be pretty serious in pregnancy. And with our altered body's, we need that fluid even more.

Thank God during this pregnancy I've only needed IV fluid once, but even at 18 weeks now, I've had several nights of scary contractions (I haven't gone in for them though because I know what to do for them by now and they seem to go away or dimish and get less painful when I rest, drink, and lay down. I think in my case, they are from doing too much and they always come when I'm sitting upright.......so I do a lot of laying down! lol). Freaks me out since I started the pre-term labor crap with my last baby at 14 weeks, did unGodly weeks of complete bedrest and medication to keep the contractions at bay, and then stubborn little guy makes it all the way to my scheduled C-section at 39 weeks! (But hey, I got what we prayed for and that's a good thing!)

Drink up woman and I hope you feel better and they don't come back.....well at least not until they're supposed to anyway! How far along are you? (You just don't have a ticker so I was just wondering how close you were getting to having baby!)

Monday I will be at 35 weeks, so if I go into labor at this point they won't do anything to stop it...I have def learned my lesson...I guess I just hadn't been thinking about it because I always have water at my desk, but I guess I got busy yesterday and didn't realize I wasn't drinking!

Thanks-Stacey

Thanks for sharing that information. I am glad you are okay and doing better!

You gave me renewed inspiration to drink my water all day long! The longer out post-op I am, the more I am seeing just how vitally important hydration is... I feel so much better when I get in enough water! (Not to mention I think better, poop better, sleep better, have more energy, am in a better mood, and things just overall seem to "work" better!)

Thanks again!
