Feeling Nervous About EVERYTHING!!!

Okay guys, I am soooo happy to be 32 weeks and so far things look good. I just have this nervous feeling at the pit of my stomach that won't go away. It started at the childbirth class with the birthing video...How can something so big...well you know the rest. Then, I feel his room will never be ready...hubby is trying but he's also working to prepare for when he has to stay home or at hosp. with me and baby...Jakob is keeping me running to the bathroom all night every night and I am getting choppy sleep waking up still tired. I just hope I'm getting enough rest to nourish him...Finally, as much as I want to be a mother, how do I know I won't totally suck at it??? I know, I'm driving myself crazy but any words of comfort, suggestions for relaxing, personal experiences are appreciated.

well going from no kids to one is definitely a big change. For me, getting up every 2-3 hrs at night and the sleeping issue was probably the hardest thing to deal with. But after each kid, my body has gotten used to less sleep and trust me, after a few weeks of it, your body adapts and you will be fine. I had really bad post partum depression after both kids, the first time I had no idea what was wrong with me. It's good to have a supportive Mom and a good doctor and after I got on some anti-depressant meds (had to be on em for a few months), I was doing great in about a week!

And having a big baby come out your whoo-ha is something to worry about, but hey it's natural, your body knows what to do, and you will be alright. Pain meds and ice packs really help and you will be fine in less than a week after going through it (at least I was).

And being a Mom takes practice, you won't be perfect at it at first, but after about 2-3 months, you will really get the hang of it. You just have to rest, take care of the baby, and get the necessities done for that first month. It's ok to be lazy and lay around for that time to recover, just tell yourself that and allow yourself to heal and bond with your baby. Ask your Mom and any other women that are mothers questions or advice when you need it. Take from them what you need to help you improve on what you need to or want to when raising your baby. It's the most fun journey you will go on soon and the best thing that will ever happen to you (besides getting married of course, lol), so enjoy it! You will be fine!!

Hit goal weight of 140 at 13 months out from RNY!! 130 pounds GONE!

Thank you that was really encouraging...I will try to keep this all in mind. My mom died when I was 10 so get most of my coaching from my sisters. One tends to be very meticulous about everything so sometimes her advice carries me over the edge more, another one is very laid back to the point of almost having been hands off with her kids...not the way for me either. So I just thought hearing how others were able to mentally prepare and adjust for this big event would be helpful. Thanks again!!!

You will be a great Mommy!  Just worrying if you are getting enough sleep tells me that!

What you are feeling is completely normal.   Even if his room isn't ready, he isn't going to care!   Jakob won't care if the pictures are hung up, right?   As long as he is fed and warm that is all that is going to matter to him.

You'll do fine, I promise!

Thanks for that! Its funny but I guess you're right. He won't know the teddy bears should be on the wall and not in the box against the wall! LOL...Okay, deep breaths in and out...And I hope you are right on the other part...I will be trying my best.

Wow you are so normal. Even after having my 2 older boys I felt that way with my baby girl. I still worry now. Sleep has always been hard for me once I had kids and now I have insomnia. Which in some ways was good. Kids never could sneak out at night even if they wanted. I sleep with ear plugs cause I wake up with every noise. All in all I say your choppy sleep may be preparing you for being ready for your beautiful baby boy! You are awesome and I love reading your posts

(((Chavon)))

You my dear are going to be a great Mom! I too felt like you did when I was about to deliver my son at the end of 2008. But you know what??? I made it through it and you will too...

I won't lie to you and say it's a piece of cake all the time but trust me, you will figure it all out... Babies don't come with an instruction manual (although I wish mine did) but it's all a matter of trial and error...

It WILL all work out I promise you... I still doubt myself as a mother at times and my son is now 15 months old... But he's healthy and doing great so I must not be THAT bad... lol

You're going to do great as a Mommy... No worries...
