So after a horrendously long day yesterday (will explain more at the end of the post lol) we finally made the 2 1/2 hour trip to the high risk dr. They were extremly nice, and the office manager even came out and took me aside and said not to worry about a thing, she will handle all the billing and insurance issues herself. They called us back immediatly and got me right up for a sonogram. The girl looked at everything, and they even had a tv on the wall so you dont have to crane your neck to look at things. After she did her thing she went and got the dr, and he came in and was so, so pleasent. He asked about my history and as soon as I told him my second son had placental abruption and had to be born by forceps, he knew we had a problem. I wasnt activly bleeding anymore from sunday, so he said even though he couldnt prove it by ultrasound that he is certain that what is going on is that i'm having small tears in the placenta, that is causing bleeding randomly, and that we should have been monitoring this very closley from the beginning. He said we should be watching her growth, and her development closely, and that we will have to determin how early we want to deliver. Full term is out of the ? because the older the placenta gets, the more likely we have a complete abruption. He wants me back in 6 weeks, and at that point he will make his formal recommendation as far as delivery goes. He mentioned at that point she would be completly viable, so Im wondering just how soon he is wanting to get her out of there. The one thing I forgot to ask was about the rh negative thing, and I think im going to leave him a message this morning, asking about that. He even did a 3d sono, however our little princess wasnt cooperating so we didnt get to see her face, but we got a really cute pic with her hand covering her face lol. Im going to find a new local ob today and hopefully this little girl will be born safely and soundly!

As I mentioned in the begining of my post, we had a horrible morning. We have a 45 minute commute to work and my sons school, and I had decided I would work the morning before we hit the road for the dr. Well during the drive my 8 year old kept saying he couldnt get the sleepys out of his eyes, and I told him not to rub them, that I would help him wash his face when we got to school. Well, when we got to school I turned around to help him and his face was completly swollen, puffed up and unreconizable. I high tailed it to work and gave him benedryl immediatly. He wasnt having trouble breathing or I would have called an ambulance. I got the dr on the phone and he said to put cold compresses on his eyes and get him there right away. I was terrified!!! I will say our 45 minute journey back to town only took 25 minutes, and as soon as we walked in the nurse saw him and was horrified and got us right back. They say its an allergic reaction, more than likely to something he ate. Everything he ate for breakfast he had taken before, but apparently that dosent matter. They put him on a heavy duty steroid, and benedryl and booked us with an allergist first thing Thursday morning. In the mean time he cant have any of the things he had yesterday, so no bread, dairy, meat, citrus or strawberrys. Also he cant take tylenol or his adhd meds just in case. (He had tylenol with breakfast because his neck hurt.) He is feeling a bit better this am, however his eyes are black and blue from all the swelling and his face is still splotchy. It was so scary and I felt so bad leaving him with my MIL so we could go out of town to the obgyn.

What a day!

I'm gonna put my money on the citrus or the strawberries - those are really common food allergy culprits!
I'm glad you got to see the new doc, it sounds like maybe you should leave lots of feedback about your old OB practice on the internet where others can find it!

Sooooo glad you saw the high risk Dr. I hope you're able to find a local OB who is actually a human being with feelings! Good luck!

That must have been super scary with your son. I am glad he's OK.

First off...I'm glad your son's OK and hope you find out what the allergy is.  I can't imagine how that felt looking back and seeing his face like that.  Poor thing.

Next - great news about the high risk dr.  I can't believe the first dr never even bothered to follow up w/this pregnancy if you've had a previous w/hte placental problems.  Talk about a law suit waiting to happen!  Me being me...I'd write a scathing letter to them...and cc the medical boards and the hospital that sent you home when you were 'squirting' blood.  O-M-G.  They'd be lucky if I didn't come pay them a visit and loudly tell all their patients in the waiting room what crappy service they provide. I hope you do go to one of the dr review websites and put your information on there.  Warn other potential patients who may be having problems to run the other way.

I hope now that you appear to have a dr w/a brain in his head that things go back to a 'normal' pregnancy and you can relax and enjoy these last few weeks.

Hey lady!  I'm doing OK...trying to get my house fixed up from numerous water problems - leaking roof, two leaking bathtubs, a washing machine that flooded the first floor of the house...replacing the floors on the first floor because of the water damage...replacing the entire bathtubs in both bathrooms because of the leaks (I'm still trying to wrap my brain around that one...why they had to replace the tubs rather than just fix the leaking pipes?!).  This move has been an ordeal.  Plus my car is still in 'jail' in Serbian Customs because the oh so intelligent moving company took it out of the European Union into Serbia - not in the European Union - w/o any paperwork and it was seized by the Serbian Customs...7 weeks ago.  In between all that fun, our boiler burned out in the middle of the night and filled the house with the lovely stench of burning diesel fuel...in the middle of a snow storm and about 15 degrees outside.  Maintenance had to come out and switch the house over to the back up electric boiler so we could have heat and ho****er.  Never has a move been so painful...and I've done a lot of them!

We're planning a trip to the States for two weeks, leaving next Friday (3/26)...then I'll be going back again in June for a conference.

I haven't been to facebook in probably 2 weeks...I'll go over tonight and accept your friend request!

How are you feeling?  Being a happy, healthy 'baker' I hope?  How are the kids?  Have you told them the news yet or are you going to wait a bit?

Wow!  I think you deserve a few non drama weeks!  I am very glad that you got to see the high risk doc.  Placental bleeds are a very dangerous thing and very scary.  Did the doctor mention anything about being on bedrest?  I hope you find a new reg OB soon!   I am really glad you got some answers.

I found a new ob who was willing to listed to what happend and take me on anyways. I meet with her in a few weeks unless there is a problem sooner. I am hoping things will be ok. Im on partial bedrest and complete pelvic rest, so hopefully things will be ok looking forward. My son has the allergist appointment tommorrow so hopefully we will find out whats going on with him too. Then I think I need a vacation lol. :)
