Another "i'm getting nervous" question
My cousin has had several surgeries on her back and back issues. She said there was a difference when she had her younger daughter (after all the probs and surgery) as compared to her oldest, when her back was 'normal'. She said the epidural didnt seem to work as well and it was harder for them to place it. I would voice your concerns to your ob, and figure out if the epidual would be best for you, or some other form of pain managment may be best. As far as pushing and stuff, she didnt have an issue, other than they made her use the sturrips as opposed to people holding her feet and pulling them back, as that could have injured her more. :) Good luck!
Super proud mommy to Dylan, Owen and Sophia Brianne!
I'd ask your OB about the epidural vs. disc issues. There MAY not be a problem, depending on which of your discs are messed up. They can most likely pick an epidural space that does not have a disc herniation. So say if S1, L5 and L4 are messed up, they can possibly go in L3. Just an example I'm throwing out.
Or you can just ditch the labor and opt for a c-section if you're super worried about it and your Dr. agrees. Then you can just get a spinal and forget the epidural. I don't do epidurals anymore because my blood pressure goes WAY too low. Plus, spinals are easier for me.
