Going to start trying soon!
Hey everyone!
It's so exciting to even be able to post on this message board now! My husband and I got married on October 31, 2009 (Halloween) and I had my RNY back on June 25, 2008, so I am almost 2 years post-op. We want to start trying to have a baby in early-mid June of this year, and I'm ecstatic.
So questions- what prenatal vitamins are recommended and where can I get them? I want to ask people who have had surgery first and foremost, then ask my Obgyn about it. How many of you had c-sections? I heard that is quite common for post-oppers.
Thank you everyone...

WOO HOO!!! Your re-birth day is my birthday!!! Welcome to my fav board on OH.
I am taking regular Walgreens pre-natals and I just cut them in half. From what I have seen here it's not more common for post-opers to have a section. I am planning on one and it is a result of the surgery. I have low blood pressure and I feel more comfortable going straight to the section. Someone on here said their surgeon said that the uterus and the stomach is not related so why would you have to have one. My surgeon said don't let them tell you you have to have a section because of surgery. Because of the BP, maybe, the surgery no.
Hope this helps and we are here for every point of this journey so don't wait until June to come back.

That would be me! DON'T let the OB push you into a c-sections just beause of your RNY! No reason for it especially if you were done lap.
I take NatureMade prenatals that say "easily digestible" on the label - 2 a day. You should also be taking folic acid - 800 mcg a day. Start taking these now that helps to get your body ready for when you do conceive. You'll also need 1200mcg calcium with D.
Good luck with TTC!

You can use the OTC prenatals or go ahead and ask your OB for a script and tell them you are going to start trying to conceive soon. Get your labs checked before you start trying. That way you can take care of any deficiencies before you get pregnant. Add carbs into your diet before you start trying. Your body and baby will need the carbs for healthy brain development.
And weight loss surgery does not make a c-section more likely. They actually have nothing to do with each other so don't worry about that. Good luck trying to conceive!
