I'm so sorry to hear this news! A lot of times, these openings can be covered and all is ok with the baby. I hope and pray that your baby will be ok!

The doctor said the opening was covered by the baby skins so hopefully all is ok.

Well, what did he say that he saw on ultrasound that made him think the baby had spina bifida? Usually they notice spina bifida because there is an area of the spine that is NOT covered by skin. I was just wondering cuz you said that the opening was covered.

I hope you get some good news in Gainsville. God willing, it won't be a severe form of SB, if it is at all, but also bear in mind that the medical world is making great strides every day, fixing things now that were not fixable even 5-10 years ago. I hope your dr in Gainsville is one of this 'miracle worker' drs and can help you and your baby.
