My surgeon said 12-18 months, but what is most important is that you are at goal and your body has stabilized out and adjusted to your new "plumbing."

Ask your surgeon what is best for you! You never know what your post op life will be like (read my profile, I didn't plan on the post-op life I had!) Every surgeon is different. Mine said wait at least 12 months. Some say 18. Some say 24. At this point, your surgeon should have already given you this information since you have a surgery date. Just ask what your surgeon recommends and see how you are a year out of surgery. You may feel that you're not ready. I know at a year out, I wasn't. I wasn't ready at 2 years out. I'm almost 3 years out and STILL didn't feel 100% ready, but I'm not getting any younger, and I'm now almost 18 weeks pregnant. It's still hard going even now, but some people have easy pregnancies after RNY. I think the fact that I'm 'older' (34) and had such a hard post op experience and eating STILL is not easy for me, affects my feelings more. Just ask your surgeon what they recommend and go from there! Good luck!
