I have taken Clomid twice- gotten pregnant both times. The first time was pre-op, and resulted in a singleton, my daughter. This time, after losing 125 pounds, I took Clomid and am having twin boys. I don't think the malabsorption was a factor with Clomid for me, but I didn't have PCOS or anything, just DH's sperm count was wacko, so the Clomid just sort of helped in addition to other fertility treatments. We did do IUI both times. I think the second time was better timed too, which is why we may now be having twins. Clomid has that risk, but I was on the lowest dose both times and it worked. Good luck.

I took Clomid to get pregnant with our 2nd child. My doctor went straight to the 100mg for me instead of starting me on 50mg. We were concerned about twins as well, but we just had one and it worked the first round for us! I did it from cycle day 3-7. Then I used progesterone supplements from day 20 until I was 15 weeks pregnant. The combo of the Clomid and progesterone (I had low progesterone levels) helped us finally conceive. I had a short luteal phase (time from ovulation til your period starts) It was like 8 days....something like that. It needed to be around 10-14 days.

I had PCOS prior to surgery and probably still do to be honest.  However...I had a period maybe three times a year if I was lucky prior to having surgery.  Once I had surgery, I started having my period like clockwork...and I lost around 130lbs.  Birth Control never worked for me, and to be honest, never really thought I needed it since the kind doctors I went to said I'd never ever get pregnant(do ya'll see my sarcasm here?).  Well...we started trying around 18mths after surgery and I am pregnant with no drugs at all.

I completely believe the surgery along w/losing weight helps to fix whatever it is that ails us.  I have no idea how right after having surgery all of sudden I would start having my cycle like clockwork but I did...:D

And now I am 33 wks pregnant with my first baby with no intervention whatsoever.  Not to say you won't need it...but hey....if it can happen to me...it can totally happen to anybody.

(dog, that lil smiley makes me long for a glass of something alcoholic.  Why do we want stuff that we can't have when pregnant that if we werent pregnant we totally wouldnt want?)
