Clomid Question?" Fertility Pills"
I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and i am trying to have a baby now. I just finish taking Provera yesterday and i should be having a cycle soon. But my doctor said when i start i need to call so they can call in the script for Clomid. I heard I may have twins from taking this drug. Has anyone took this med? Has anyone had twins? It has been 18 months since i had my DS done I was 336 and I am now 138 almost 200lbs lost I am happy about that just excited now to become a mom for the first time. Can anyone give me a little advice and answers to somethings. Thanks in advance!!!!!!
I can't really speak to experience with Clomid because I've never taken it.
I too have PCOS but I was able to conceive twice. I was taking Metformin only both times. The first one ended in a miscarriage but I'm almost 33 weeks now.
Now that you've lost all of that weight, you may be able to conceive without drugs. Maybe you can try that for a couple of cycles and see what happens.

i am sorry tht u ended n a miscarriage and good that u have made it to 33 weeks. i wish u much success with becoming a mom and i may just do that and try that way and not take the meds yet just c what happns this month. question with ur psoc were u having a normal cycle? i take metformin also so that may b hope.
I've always had a normal cycle...even when my PCOS was at it's worst. I know most women with PCOS have very erratic cycles but I never did. I had periods but I can't say for sure I was ovulating.
If you JUST went off birth control I would definitely give your body a chance to figure out what your cycle is going to do. It make take a couple months to get it all straightened out.
Good luck.

I too have PCOS and had to use Provera for a month, maybe two to get my cycles on track. I was also on Clomid for a while too. We had to play with the mg count of the Clomid, but it finally worked for me and here I am pregoo. Becasue I had RNY and have the malabosrption I think I ended up on 150 mg of clomid the month is worked. With any fertility drug there is a risk of multi's but we are having just one!
Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on your weight loss! I'm still pre-op, but here's my two cents about Clomid... I took Clomid (50mg) for two cycles before getting pregnant. I don't have PCOS, but do have a history of irregular cycles. I was charting my cycles while we were TTC, so I know that I didn't always ovulate. I did not have twins, just a singleton (my daughter is now 13 months old ). Seems like my OB told me that the chance of having multiples was very low compared to other fertility drugs or methods.
Good luck! Sending lots of baby dust your way!

I had really bad PCOS and was on the pill for years. Hubby and I decided to try for a baby so I went off the pill. I got preggers the first month we tried and loss that one. I am now 9 weeks along and no drugs. When I went off the pill, my cycles were so regular. I would give it a try without drugs to see if you still need them.
P.S. I am from Dayton too! Moved to CT to be with hubby since he is from here.

I am very thankful for evryones input about the meds and getting pregnant i know with my having the DS that the meds wont absorb fast so I may also need to be on a high dose to start out with. I will try my best not to get stress about it or just to excited and let it just happen. I am going to try to keep yall updated on my progress with trying.
I will tell you about my experience. I was on depo shot for five years, and have PCOS. I never got my period for about a year after coming off depo. We tried many different birth controls, but nothing worked. I had been on Metformin XR; not realizing it was extended release. My dr. perscribed the old fashion Metformin and bam ....period came. I then began cycles of 50mg day 5 and took that for three cycles over six months (there were a couple months my husband wasn't out of town-Navy and didnt make sense to take when I knew he wouldn't be around). After no success; the dr. had up the dose to 100mg day 3; so I went the month of August without....guess what....I GOT PREGGO....now I will say the clomid probably got my parts working, so I do believe they played a part of me getting pregnant, but I didnt take the month I conceived. It does increase your chances of twins; however, not by much. You might want to ask your dr. about opinions on combining Clomid with Metformin. Many ppl are successful with that combo as well.
