Finding out sex?
I just have to know. I'm a planner. Since this is our 5th child, and I'm pretty certain this is our last, we are buying pink things for the few things that we do need. Our stuff has already gone through 3 kids and a lot of it has pretty much had it. We have to get new bouncy seat, high chair, car seat (infant carrier), crib mattress, diaper bag and Jumperoo. We always get each child their own crib bedding, that way we can pass it on to them when they are older and have their own children. I just feel it's something special that was just theirs and they can share with their family when they are older. Same thing with their going home outfit. We put it up for them along with their first paci, first diaper (not used of course! LOL), favorite baby toy, baby book, and the newspapers from the day they were born. We have their stuff in big rubbermaid boxes and when they get married and have chidren, they will get their box. It will also have their old report cards, special papers or projects that we've saved for them from school, awards or any other special collectables that we've saved for them.
Anyway, I got off track. At first we bought the gender neutral stuff so we could pass it on. It's a good system considering we DID get that stuff to last through 3 kids. I didn't have anything left over from my 1st one because I traded and gave away a lot of things cuz I was a single Mom for 5 years. And our 2nd child wasn't born until he was 7 1/2. So we bought new for that one and made the stuff last. But now that we feel that our family will be complete once Kenzie is born, we decided that the things that needed to be replacing, we'd splurge and go for gender specific.....PINK! lol We're reusing our daughter's clothes and shoes (cuz I took good care of them) and we'll never EVER have to buy this little girl a single toy (but we will) LOL But I would say buying the gender neutral stuff is the economic way to go and glad we did it that way. But I'm happy to be able to splurge a little on this baby and get some pink!

I am like you a planner. My husband and I are going on Monday to find out the gender of our baby. We agree that we want to buy the big stuff gender neutral and the room gender specific.
I am glad that you got off track. You had some really good ideas. I am saving your post so that I can do that with my own baby.
