prenatal vitamins?
I have a question....I do plan on calling my surgeons office but wanted to pick your brains here as well. I (or should I say my husband and I) intend on trying to conceive this summer, I will have waited the reccommended time from my Dr's office (18 months). My question is this: My understanding is that prenatals are to be started 2-3 months prior to even trying so I want to start them soon.....do I take them AS WELL as my multi vitamin or instead of my multi vitamin (which is centrum chewable)????
Thanks!
Thanks!
I remember asking this exact same question just about a year ago! Take the prenatals instead of your multivite. Also add in extra calcium citrate, I take 1,000 mg a day and a B-12 sublingual. Ask your Dr.'s opinion of course, this is just was was recommended to me. I also take iron, but that's because I became anemic during pregnancy. Good luck!

As for a multivitamin, I take a centrum chewable in the AM and then a prenatal + folic acid just before bed. That's what my bariatric doctor told me to do before I got pregnant. He also said to have a full blood lab panel done every 3 months during the pg to check on vitamin levels. I've had it done each time and it's been great.... well this last one I had done this month, my calcium and vit D were a little low, but I'm having the baby in 3 wks so I'm fine. GL!
