f/u from yesterdays ? about rohgam shot
I had to be my own advocate today. After everyones responses, and talking to a few friends whom have had similar experiences with spotting and rogham shots, I decided to push the issue with my doctor. And it worked! I called today and spoke with the nurse and then the doctor. I said that I was concerned that all the research I had done pointed to the fact that no matter how far along I am, as soon as I started bleeding I should have recieved a rogham shot, and that I still at the point hadnt, even though I am currently bleeding. (have been bleeding for a week strait, including passing tissue, all for no apparent reason) They tried again to tell me that they dont 'usually' give the shot untill 28 weeks, not matter what. Then they said they would give it to me 'if I wanted them too.' So, to make a long story a little shorter, yes, of COURSE I wanted too! Anything that may prevent the loss of my child I want. Hello... So they told me to come right in. While I was there getting my shot, my dr (who I havent seen in weeks, just his partners, all of whom I really do like) stuck his head in and said non-chalantly 'didnt you allready have a rogham shot when you first started spotting, you know, when you went to the er around 8 weeks?' Umm, no, I did not. And i've been telling you that for weeks, and you would have it in your notes. I thought that was a little fishy, but I think its because at this point im a bit paranoid I guess. Idk if I should switch practices, or let this go. Thoughts?
Super proud mommy to Dylan, Owen and Sophia Brianne!
I'm glad you got the shot! sometimes it's so hard to stand up for things like that and insist. As for swiitching practices, healthcare is a consumer industry, and if you really feel like this is compromising your level of comfort with the Dr., then look into it. You have had a lot of bleeding this pregnancy, perhaps finding someone who seems a little more concerned about it would be helpful for your mental health too. Shop around a little- it never hurts! I have personally found that women Dr's and midwives seem to take things a bit more seriously, but that is my experience in my area, and may not be everyone's. Good luck! I'm glad you finally got your shot.

I am soooo happy that you got the shot!! I totally agree that comment from your doctor is extremely fishy.
I don't mean to give you such strong advice but I think you should find a new doctor. I would be shocked if the insurance said it wasn't an option.
If you have brought the shot up several times and they keep brushing you off and then you found definitive evidence that it would help they are not the right docs. They were taking a too relaxed approach in my opinion. Now there are a lot of people that like that kind of doctor where they are just chill and say oh don't worry everything will be fine. That isn't me. I like the doctors that are more proactive in their approach.
Good luck in your search if you decide to go ahead. I think in the end result you will be so much happier.

Im going to attempt to find a new practice. The problem is that I live in a very small town, and this doctor has the biggest practice here. Even if I switch there is a 99 percent chance that he or one of his collegues will deliver. And that may be awkwark. Idk. I will keep you all updated! I am going to be focusing on me, and pushing issues from now on. As a side note, and this may or may not be all in my head, but I have not been spotting at all today. And I have for a week strait up untill last night. So, is it a coincidence, my mental status, idk. But im greatfull non the less!

I didn't get a chance to reply to your first post... I am RH negative too and was very paranoid about this since I had an ectopic that burst and the doctor "forgot" to give me a rohgam shot and I was soooo afraid my second pregnancy would be affected by the antigens from the first pregancy.
After I pointed out to my OB I was RH negative (he should have known!) he put a big red sticker on my chart.... I didn't get the shot until 28 weeks, but he said if I had a car accident or anything traumatic that could cause a swap of fluids between me and the baby I'd have to get a shot. He didn't mention spotting.... I guess if your blood wasn't being exchanged with the babies and the spotting was just your fluid... still better safe than sorry and I don't think that it hurts to have the shot early!
They can test your blood and make sure you haven't developed the antigens against your baby's RH factor... but with the Rohgam shot that's probably not needed. (I made my doctor do that when I was early on in my 2nd pregnancy).
I'm proud of you for being your own advocate! Since your doctor's office DID give you the shot when you directly aske and if you like the doctors over all then I wouldn't switch.... Most important to me is if I ask a doctor something they take my opinion / concerns seriously and "humor" me.
