Hello all

Well the twins went to another GI doctors appointment and they said Amaya
is doing so much better...Ariel is still having problems and they put her on some
new meds and if that does not work they will do more testing.
I was also told to give her cereal like I had said before but now they told me to do it
on every feeding, she has been pooping really hard stuff..I wanted to ask how early did you
start giving your baby water and how much?
I know Doc told me to wait until she is 6 months but I feel so bad for her.
And how soon did you start your baby on baby food?
Thanks.
Meleney

And here are some recent pics of the babies they are 4 1/2 months old.

You can sneak a couple of teaspoons of prune juice into her milk, that usualy softens things right up! We waited the full 6 months to give Rowan anything but breast milk and formula, but he got some pretty hard stools once he started having some rice cereal, the prune juice cleared it up though!

my ped said rice cereal is very constipating and to do oatmeal cereal (she was 2months when they said this) She was bf/and on soy if she had formula she still has problems its a fight all the time to make sure she is going. Then at 4 months she said pear or apple juice  would help. Ive tried giving her prunes but it didnt help her. Good luck! She is almost 10months now!

OMG...they're so beautiful...Give 'em a kiss for me!

When my son was little - about 4-6 weeks old - he got REALLY constipated - huge hard balls of pooh.  I talked to the dr and she told me to give him a small bottle of prune juice and water.  I gave him water every now and then (he was not breastfed) and the dr was OK with that. In my likely illogical way of thinking...I HATE water...so I gave it to him to get him used to it so he wouldn't hate it...and it seems to have worked LOL.  I think they sell bottled 'baby water' which is likely just distilled water.  Talk to your dr and see what he/she says, though. One time when my son was going through a growing spurt, he drank 5 (yes FIVE) 8 oz bottles in 45 minutes and was yowling for more.  I finally just gave him water...Told him that he'd had enoughfor an hour or two...and that seemed to satisfy him.  In the meantime, I was trying to figure out where the hell it was all going to.  Even I can't drink 40 oz in 45 minutes!

Good luck w/the new meds.  I hope they start working so both your girls are feeling better.  How are your older kids enjoying the babies?

We had the peds blessing to put an oz. of apple juice into each of our daughter's bottles cuz she was so constipated. Didn't help much. I should've used prune juice!
