rOWAN IS 8 MONTHS OLD TODAY!
He isn't crawling yet, but he's starting to try, he can rotate on his belly and push himself forward a bit if his feet are against something. If he doesn't have anything to brace his feet on, he ends up pushing himself backwards instead!
On the other hand, if he sits on my leg with his feet touching the floor, he can STAND UP and then keep himself standing holding onto something for several seconds. He might walk before he crawls.
Food wise he does about 16-24 oz of milk or formula during the day, plus he'll eat about 4 oz of fruit and cereal for breakfast, 4-5 ounces for lunch and sometimes as much as 6oz for dinner. Then he'll nurse again before bed and he eats once overnight (as much as 8 oz sometimes). Somehow, he's still only in the 35th percentile for weight. He LOOVES his solids.
He went on a hunger strike when he was sick 6 weeks or so ago, I resorted to syringe feeding him apple juice mixed with water throughout the day just to make sure he stayed hydrated. He lost about 1/2 a lb in just a few days. It took a few days after he got better for his appetite to really come back. Our pedi said that as long as he was producing a decent amount of wet diapers to not worry too much about it. Don't worry about getting him to eat solids, just focus on liquids.
