Miscarriage & Anovulation . . . due to low B12?

I suffered a m/c at 12 weeks.  Since my D& C, I haven't ovulated.  It's been 4 months.  I've seen 2 reproductive endo who have done every fertility test imaginable (I'm 41 years old).  According to them, everything is perfect and lack of ovulation is "normal" for someone my age.  Obviously, I don't have time on my side.

At my last bariatric doctor appt., right before I conceived, my lab values were excellent EXCEPT my B12, which was low.  Does anyone have any information on a possible link between low B12 and miscarriages/anovulation?

Thanks in advance.

BTW, I'm 2.5 years out from RNY.

First of all what was the B12 level at your last check? I haven't heard of that being the cause of infertility but who knows! My B12 has been as low as 275 (my surgeon wants me at at least 700) and I am almost 30 weeks pregnant. I have heard of TSH (thyroid hormone) being the cause of miscarriages and infertility - has that been tested?

HAve they discussed meds to help you ovulate?

Good luck and I hope that you get your BFP soon!

I am not sure about the B-12 (I get the shots so I am doing good) but like Liz said, I know your thyroid can cause infertility. Between that and possible low progesterone, I had a miscarriage and then had problems getting pregnant until the thyroid got better. First month trying after getting it under control I got preggers.

Well...I am no expert...but I will be 42 in 2 weeks...and I still ovulate every month to the best of my knowledge.  Have you had the dr do an FSH test, as well as whatever the other test is to check ovarian reserves?  I just had mine done last month and the dr here (in Bulgaria) said that my reserves are good and my FSH level is 'normal' for my age.

I know all about that screaming biological clock, and unfortunately, it's very hard (and stressful) to turn it down.  I hope you get another sticky BFP soon.

On the other hand, it's good to know there are others in my age range who are out there TTC too.

I had every test -- FSH, ovarian reserve, fallopian tubes, etc. -- all good.  I keep getting the excuse that "sometimes it takes a while for the body to return to normal after a miscarriage."  I want to be hopeful, but at times, it's hard.

I appreciate the replies.  Baby dust to you!

Have they tried any drugs - birth control or whatever - to get your cycle going again?  That's got to be even more frustrating than just TTC...knowing that your body's still stuck at the red light while you're revving (sp?) the engine.

What an accurate analogy -- red light w/ the engine racing!  LOL

I took Provera on CD 38 to induce a period.  A very light period followed, not much.  I'm currently on CD22 w/ no ovulation (4 month).  If I get to CD 35 this month w/o starting my period, I'll take Provera again, but this time they are adding Clomid on CD 3-7.  Hopefully, this will do something.  Fingers crossed.

Thanks again for dropping me a line.

Best to you!
