I just took a pregnancy test and it says positive.  Kind of a miracle considering I have PCOS.  I'm so scared you guys. I'm sitting here crying as I type this.  My question is...IS IT TOO SOON?  I had surgery on Aug 3 of 2009 which puts me at 7 months post op.

IS IT TOO SOON?
COULD THIS PREG HURT ME PHYSICALLY (NOT TALKING ABOUT WEIGHT LOSS)
WHAT RISKS ARE THERE TO THE BABY?

PLEASE HELP.  I'M NORMALLY CALM BUT I'M FREAKING OUT HERE.

I know there are many people who have gotten pregnant as early as you (and even earlier) and they and their baby's have been fine. They usually warn us to wait until 12 to 18 months post op, but stuff happens.
There are a couple really important things you need to do. One is to add carbs to your diet. It's important that you are not in ketosis while you are pregnant. I would say you should also call your dietician and ask what they thik you should do diet wise. I don't know how many calories you are eating per day now, but you will most likely need more than you are getting.

Good Luck!

First off Congrats on your miracle.  Second, take a deep relaxing breath.  Lot's of women have gotten pregnant before the recommended time and went on to have healthy babies.
Call your OB and your surgeon (if you haven't already).  Take your vitamins.  You may need to have your levels checked if you didn't at 6 months post op.   Add some carbs to your diet.  It's very important to stay out of Ketosis while pregnant.
Good luck!

Congrats!! Pcos sucks. Mine didn't go away after surgery and I still needed fertility treatments to regulate my cycles. I hope this, although unexpected...is a blessing for you. You are in the right place for support, so stick around. The girls mentioned ketosis and labs. Also prenatals are important because they have the folic acid you need. I had my labs drawn every 2 months because baby will take what it needs and you don't want to suffer. I did get low in iron and b-12 by the end of the pg and needed to supplement, but because I was drawing labs regularly we caught it before it became a problem. My labs are good now after pg. Baby should be fine as long as you take care of yourself. There are tons of ladies here that have beautiful post op babies getting pg early out...so take a deep breath. Have a happy and healthy nine months. Shari

I just wanted to  thank those of you who have responded to my plea for help.  I spoke with my surgeon this morning and he assured me that it's ok for me to be pregnant.   I have an appointment with the OBGYN tomorrow morning.  Fingers crossed.

I was only 10 weeks out and I was so scared! It's not as bad as it seems actually. You have already lost a lot of weight so you are probably going to have a better pregnancy than you would have pre-op! When I got my positive pregnancy test I went and saw my Nut right away and she advised me to start taking in some more calories like drinking 2% milk rather than skim & eat cheese and peanut butter. That way you are getting in some more calories and also protein. You also want to get in extra carbs so you can keep yourself from going into ketosis. I don't know a whole lot about ketosis but I have heard on the pregnancy board that it's dangerous for the fetus. I just munched on honey nut cheerios all day for my first trimester to avoid morning sickness. My nut also had me start a lot of vitamins. Here is the list of what I took daily (and still do take daily due to breastfeeding):

Iron
Calcium x2 (taken at least 4 hrs apart to ensure you absorb most of it.)
Folic acid
Prenatal
D x2
C (to help w/ the absorption of the Iron)
B6
B12

I also increased my protein minimum from 60g to 80g which was not easy to meet and I don't think I met that goal more than a dozen times! I also had to drink 32oz of milk which went towards my protein and liquid goals.

I saw my OB monthly up to 24 weeks then bi weekly up to 32 weeks then weekly until delivery. I did not have to see a high risk OB but once I got to 32 weeks they did a weekly NST (non stress test that monitors the baby's heart rate for about 20mins to ensure it is normal) and also an ultrasound to check the baby's movements, size, and "breathing". During my pregnancy I had NO complications and NO red flags! She was perfect from start to finish and still is. I had some issues with morning sickness, loose stools, light headedness, & water retention in my calves and ankles towards the end but that comes with any pregnancy. I lost about 80 lbs during my pregnancy and 50 w/ in the 2 weeks after delivery. Even though I got pregnant early out I have managed to lose 208lbs so far so it's not going to ruin your surgery! I can say it was really hard for me to get in calories and protein in the first trimester and towards the end because I had an aversion to food. I could not get down meat or milk. It all grossed me out beyond belief. I did not like to eat anything that took a lot of chewing because it made me want to throw up! I ate a lot of soup and a whole lot of Spaghettios!! lol!! You are going to be ok and congratulations on your pregnancy!! Keep in touch with the board!

I was six months out from surgery when I got pregnant and I too have PCOS. I really didn't think it was possible for me to get pregnant and I was probably just as apprehensive as you were when I found out. So far everything has been great and my pregnancy has been as normal as any other pregnant person that I have known and even better than some. Congrats on your new baby.
