RH neg, and spotting = rogham shot?

So as ot of you know I have been bleeding and spotting alot during this pregnancy. The last few weeks has been the worst, today I even passed some brown tissue. (Sorry if TMI!) Anyways the doctors are still saying not to stress about it, just to take it easy etc. My ? is, a few friends of mine are telling me that I should have had a rogham shot at this point allready on account of the bleeding, since we dont know if the baby will be neg or positive. I researched this, and im finding it to be true. However at my last appointment my doc said I wont recieve it untill 28 weeks. Im not quite 20 now. Should I be concerned and demand a shot? Any info would be helpful. This is all so scary, and every time I see blood I freak out...

I would say your friends are correct. When I was spotting in my first trimester they gave me a rho gamma shot at 11 or 12 weeks being that im rh negative and I recieved another one at 28 weeks (and will get another after birth).

However, I think because you are already in your mid second trimester they will most likely just wait until 28 weeks as you are past the major stage of miscarriage scares. Also they might be too close together to get at this point (20 and 28 weeks). But it never hurt to just ask you OB if anything.

My physician said if I was actively bleeding then I would get a shot. If not, I would get it on the normal schedule.

I am RH Negative as well, I got mine at 28 weeks and then after birth because both my girls were positive. My doctor never mentioned getting it early, so I dont know. I am sure the doctor would know best, tell him your symptoms if they think you should have it early then they will do it.

I am not RH negative so I don't really know about the timing of it etc.  But.... I personally believe in being my own advocate.  If you are finding reliable info whether it be from friends or via the internet you need to bring it up to the doctor.  In fact I would ask tomorrow.

My doctor said I would have my shots on the regular schedule (28 weeks and after delivery if the baby is RH positive) with the exception of:

*I must get the shot if I start to bleed at any time during the pregnancy

or

*if I have any blunt trauma to my abdomen area (direct fall on to my stomach, car accident, etc)

I'd definitely press this issue!

I had early bleeding also and got the shot around 9 weeks then again at 28 weeks and again after birth. The docs here give them no matter what with bleeding. Funny cause my husband is also negative but they say they do it to be safe. LOL they do it cause all these wives around here cheat and dont know what the baby could be. I would ask if it is safe to get it now and then and what the benefits could be. Never hurts to check.

I am negative and my old OB told me my first mc was because of that. Then come to find out my husband is negative also so this was not the cause.
With my first bith (second pregancy) we did the Rh shot around 28 weeks and again after birth. I had a shot after my mc. Then we decided to test my husband and found out he was negative so my doc said I no longer had to have the shots. I never had another shot again and have had six pregnancies and five deliveries, now due with number 6. If you are of concern I would really push. I have found if the doc is not willing to listen then they are not going to change and will be that way through the entire pregnancy. You have to trust your doc 100% and they have to listen to you. I would switch doctors!

The first question I was asked when I was spotting at around 9 weeks was whether or not I was Rh negative. At the time I thought I was so I got the shot immediately. Then they said I would get it again at 28 weeks and after the birth if the baby was positive. Then I found out from my blood panel that I am actually A positive so I didn't really need the shot. It doesn't hurt, I just have more money to owe the hospital now. I would tell your doc you want the shot.
