When did you stop working???

Just curious...when did you stop working?  Did you work all the way up to the day you delivered?  Did you take some time off before?  I will be 38 weeks on Monday.  As of last Monday, I was 1 cm dilated (have been for 2 weeks) and at least 75% effaced.  My BP was a little elevated and I am definitely swelling now.    Now, my coworkers are even telling me that I look like I need to be home with my feet up.

I am considering making this my last week at work, but I don't know why I feel semi-guilty about it.  Maybe it is because I had my mind set on working closer to my due date and I don't want to have to take advanced  leave.

Anyways...what did you do or what are you planning to do?

I finally gave in and left work a week before my due date. My feet were just too swollen and it was so painful that I couldn't sit in my office chair anymore! I needed to be home with my feet up!

My plan is to work up until I deliver. I did tell my boss that I want to go to 1/2 days starting a week before my due date and he was OK with that. Maybe that is an option for you - depending on what you do. I get 12 weeks maternity leave and want to have every day of that with my little one.

I'd say listen to your body and if you live in a state that does short term disability for pregnancy maybe take advantage of that.

Good luck!

I swore I was going to have my baby early, nope she never came on her own.  But I decided to take off work any ways.  I had a bunch of time built up and couldn't stand it here any longer.  My last day was Sept 5th and I hung out, got stuff done, slept a lot, and took care of my Mom since she had brachioplasty.  I finally had my little girl Oct 1st.  Those few weeks off was nice though.

I went out aqt 37 weeks- I really hated my job and couldn'tstand it anymore! This time though I am going to try to work as close as possible- of course I'm having twins so that may or may not be possible. Good luck with the decision!

I am going to try and work as close to my due date as possible. But, if I am miserable, then I will stop working. Technically I can leave work 1 or 2 weeks before my due date and get paid 80% of my salaray and that is not included in the 6 weeks of short term disability I get after the baby is born. So no matter what, I get the 6 weeks. I would just prefer to make 100% of my salary

But that is me saying that now when I am in the glory of my second trimester. I can't imagine how miserable I might get and I might just want to go home and sleep til Loralei gets here.

My boss will take me as long as I can stand it.  I already work two days a week from home, so that is a huge help for me.  I will increase those days if neccessary.  I really just want all my time to be with my baby and not before she comes; however, I will do what I need to.  I am planning on taking 8 full weeks off and then an additional two working from home (probably part time).  I could take all 12 if I wanted, but right now my plan is 10.

Good luck...hope you feel better!  Stacey

When I got up to leave a meeting that just ended and my water broke! But I wasn't effaced or dilated at all. I did have a lot of swelling, so I just kept my feet up whenever I was at my desk.

My plan was to wor****il one week before my scheduled c-section.   I ended up being put on bed rest at 36 weeks and 6 days.  So I went out 1 week and 1 day before I had planned,
Don't feel guilty!  You need the rest!!!!
