c-section/natural
I had a c-section with Max in January 2009. This baby is due Aug 5th and my OB told me that it is my choice on to do another csection or go natural. He said we would discuss it more.
What I wanted to know is how many women here have had a csection with their first and then went on to have a VBAC?
I really want to experience it all with this one. With Max I had an induction and ended up with a csection, I really regret that. I feel like I took that experience away just because I was 'tired' of being pregnant. I know that it might not go how I want it and end up with a section in the end but I will know that I tried.
Any advice will be great!!!
TIA!

My first was a scheduled c/s for breech presentation. I have gone on to have 6 VBACS 5 of those were at home and my biggest vaginal birth after c/s was 10lbs 9oz.
Yes, you can birth vaginally after a c/s.

It kind of depends on why you had a c-section to begin with. Was it failure to progress? Baby too big? Baby in distress? Breech baby?
I was all lined up to have my 2nd baby VBAC. My 1st child was born via emergency c-section due to fetal distress. I wanted to try to have a VBAC with my 2nd.........but then I broke my knee and that plan went out the window. Very difficult to try to push when you have to have your leg in a locked straight out position! lol

I ended up with a csection because I was induced. Well only with cervidil and it put me into hard contraction to fast didnt end up using any other meds like pitocin. Contractions were to close together with no dilation and Max's heart rate was dipping dangerously low. So section it was.
I do wonder if I just let myself naturally go into labor if I would have still ended up with a section. will never know.

I was induced at 37 weeks with my first because I had high blood pressure. I was given cervidil and ended up finally starting to feel the contractions later in the evening and all through the night. The next day the added pitocin and I was in labor all day. By about 7pm I was ready to push. I pushed for 3 hours and her head wouldn't pass under my pelvic bone all the way, it kept getting close, but I couldn't do it. So they gave me a C section. They ended up pushing her back in and then through my stomach which caused a lot of bacteria to be in the incision. I ended up getting an infection in my incision and had to be hospitalized for a week due to it. The C section itself wasn't nearly as bad as the infection and all I went through with that. I have to say the infection was the worst experience ever. However, this time around, I am going to go straight for a C section. The reason being is that I do not want to go all through labor like that again just to find out that the baby gets stuck again and then I'm in the same position as before, with a higher chance of infection. I would rather them just cut me open without all that bacteria being present. But that is why I'm doing a repeat C section instead of a VBAC.
I don't feel cheated for my c-section because it was necessary for baby's health. That said, doc said I could do VBAC this time and I don't know what to do. We don't have any emergency child care to respond at a moment's notice. A c-section is probably best to ensure someone is with DD. A VBAC is best for the new baby. Torn!
