I am planning on BFing when the baby is born but not sure how to lose the weight.  With my daughter I gained 45 and lost 30 within a week.  Then lost another 10 after that, but not sure when that happened.  This time around I am hoping to not gain as much, if I do, then I guess just do what I did with Delaney.   Just try to eat as healthy as I can while nursing.    I want to try a back on track program, or the 5 day pouch rule?  But also make sure I am still getting enough calories and carbs and protein to nurse.  I am bad about drinking my water, I need to get working on that.  Especially when I start nursing.

I WILL BE TRYING THE 5 DAY POUCH TEST TOO...IT CANT HURT..NOT ME ANYWAY....AGAIN I AM NOT SURE I WILL BE ABLE TO BREAST FEED...OF COURSE I HEARD OR READ RATHER THAT B/F CAN BURN UP TO 700 CALORIES ...WOW HUGH..BUT SOME MEDICATION THAT I MAY NEED TO BE ON AFTER HAVING HER, MAY PREVENT ME FROM B/F
IF THAT IS SO...IT WILL BE EASIER FOR ME...OR AT LEAST IN MY HEAD ....
THANKS FOR YOUR REPLYS LADIES !!

Just like everything else in life, there is no simple way to do it.  It's hard work.   I'm up at 4 and in the gym by 5, busting my ass with a trainer.   I eat right and that's that.   It's not that simple for some people and I get that, but for me I choose to view my WLS as a piece of the puzzle.

I wasn't able to BF   : (    I tried with my twins and with my newest addition, but I didn't produce enough so I was able to get back on the dieting horse quicker than most.

The biggest thing for me is that my food doesn't taste like crapola.   I like the taste of taste.  Just because I watch what I eat doesn't mean that my food should taste like cardboard or vileness.  Know what I mean?  I use a lot of chicken stock in my cooking and a lot of spices versus using a lot of fats.   I cook a lot, lol  My facebook friends on here can attest to that.

Don't beat yourself up yet before you are even there yet.  Give yourself a chance.

MAY I ASK YOU...WHEN YOU SAY U EAT RIGHT YOU MEAN YOU CHOOSE HEALTHY FOODS PERIOD? NOT " LOW CARB AT EVERY MEAL BUT EATING HEALTHY CARBS AND IN MODERATION? THIS IS SOMETHING I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT TOO....
I AM A WLS PATIENT WHO CAN EAT JUST ABOUT ANYTHING. THERE ARE A COUPLE OF FOODS THAT DON'T SIT WELL BUT NO MAJOR DEAL... ( PORK & ICE CREAM)
I THINK IN MY HEAD SO MANY THINGS HAVE BEEN DRILLED " IN ABOUT EAT THIS NOT THAT, THAT I AM AT THE POINT WHERE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO EAT SOMETIMES...LOL
MY SISTER LOST HER WEIGHT ON WEIGH****CHERS...WHICH I THINK IS VERY HEALTHY... AND I AM A FIRM BELIVER IN EXERCISE , I CANT AFFORD THE TRAINER BUT I SURE CAN EXERCISE.
I KNOW WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT ...AND SO ARE OUR WEIGHT LOSS PLANS .....JUST I THINK I AGREE WITH YOU ...NOT THAT I WOULD EAT CARBS AT EVERY MEAL JUST IF I DO IT WILL BE HEALTHY ONES...

Exactly.  I'm not eating a ton of carbs at every meal, but I'm not leaving them out of my life either.  I like a good bowl of pasta here and there just like the next person.   Also, my trainer does not want me eating a ton of late night carbs.

I used to be a grab a slice of bread with my night time migraine medication type of person.   That has stopped completely.

An example of a typical meal at my house would be as follows:

Chicken francese served with some braised spinach and maybe a small amount of toasted orzo.  If that was a high carb day to begin with I may make a cauliflower risotto instead of the orzo.   Sounds like a fattening meal, except it's not.

this is my first post op baby, so I don't know how it'll be to lose the weight. I've gained 23 lbs so far and only have 5 wks left. With my first two babies, I was 250 and then 275 when I delivered each of them and the weight fell off within about the first 3 weeks. I gained 35 with my first and then 16 lbs with my 2nd pregnancy. I think b/f, drinking tons of water (I was doing like 120 oz/day), and just not having an appetite for about a month helped me drop the weight so fast! I had post partum depression after each of my babies and it really killed my appetite, I was just mostly thirsty and gagged down food at each meal.

I think this time will probably be the same, I might drop the weight right away. If not, I won't worry about it because I'll be b/f and you can't do too much dieting while doing that or it'll affect your milk supply. I think I'll lose half of it while in the hospital, due to having the baby not in there anymore and water weight. So losing 15 lbs won't be too hard I think. I am going to start taking walks after I have the baby when I feel up to it, now that the weather is much nicer. I think being active and eating right are the key to getting the weight off! GL!

Hit goal weight of 140 at 13 months out from RNY!! 130 pounds GONE!

This is my first baby and when I talked to my nutritionist she told me to keep eating like I was pregnant. My body is going to need the 300 extra calories (I eat 1500-1800 a day), 100 grams of carbs, 90 grams of protein and at least 96oz of water (I usually do more). Of course I don't know if all this is going to work or if I will be able to breast feed but I am a planner and only see my NUT once a year so I asked while I was out there in Jan.

Good luck!

I gained 30 and lost 30 within 2 weeks of delivery.  If you gain the right amount of weight it should just come off.  That said, I gained in the year after she was born!  I was in a depression from some major in-law issues.

With this pregnancy, I am gaining less due to being so much heavier to begin with.  I hope to be 10 pounds lighter than starting weight by 1 month after delivery.

I am also going to limit any bad vibe people around me for the first 6 mos which should keep me mentally healthier.

As for BF, if you have weight to lose you can just eat 2000 or so a day BF and you'll be fine.  For most of the world, there is no such thing as "not enough milk."  Maybe 1:10,000 women technically have that problem.

What happens is some babies want to cluster feed and eat every hour.  Women assume they are not making enough milk for the baby.  This is too much for people (imagine being up like that all the time?) and they go to formula.  To ensure BF try to eat very healthfully and drink lots and lots of water.
