Protein problems...

Hello Ladies!

I am currently 10 weeks pregnant. I was an oops and got pregnant earlier than recommended, however my OB and surgeon seem to think everything will be fine. So far everything is good, no morning sickness...BUT, I can no longer drink protein shakes, I literally gag while I'm drinking and then they come right back up. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm worried about getting in all the protein I need for myself and the baby. I would love any advice- Thanks!

I gag on protein shakes on a non-pregnant day! lol

Just try and eat meat, I find that ground meats seem to sit better then things like steak right now. I also eat a lot of greek yogurt. Can you drink milk? If you can drink lots!

You and baby should be just fine - just make sure you are pushing for calories and carbs. My OB and NUT reccomended 1500-1800 calories, 100 grams of carbs and 90 grams of protein minimum. I know that the calorie goals will be hard for you being early out (I am 3 years out and struggle most days!) but find creative ways to get them in - add butter, 1/2 and 1/2 or cream cheese to things where you can. I also eat a lot of peanut butter.

Good luck!

I can't drink protein shakes right now either. But I pretty much had stopped drinking them before I got pregnant since I was able to get enough protein from my food. But when I did try to drink one after I found out I was pregnant, it tasted sooooooooo terrible!
