Humm, I might be crazy...

But I REALLY don't want to go back on any type of hormonal birth control after this baby.  When I first came on this board about a year ago I had a chemical pregnancy while on the Nuvaring.  I was on antibiotics at the time, so maybe it was my fault but regardless it happened.

While I was on BC I was totally not myself, but I was on it for so long, to regulate my period and such that I didn't realize how different I felt when my body was doing what it was supposed to be doing.  As soon as I went off hormones for the first time in 6 years, my mood was happier and my sex drive came back times 1000.

DH would kill me for saying this but he is uncircumcised and condoms just never worked for him, IDK why, they just have never worked.

So here's my question.  I do not want to get pregnant again right away, we want to wait at least a year or two.  When I was in college I used (along with the pill) a spermicide film that would close the cervix and killed sperm.  It's not the MOST effective method, I think like 87% or sometime, plus we would be charting ovulation and not having sex around that time.  Has anyone used the calendar method plus some type of spermicide product and it worked for a while?  I know this is a personal choice, and DH and I are on board with it, I was just wondering about any experiences anyone is willing to share.

Thanks
Karen

I agree about hormonal BC but I have 1.5 kids with the rhythm method (and only had sex w/ rhythm method 4x).  I didn't use spermicide though.

My husband isn't circumcized and condoms were okay for him. Men don't like them no matter what.  LOL.

Diaphragms are supposed to be good.

Google Natural Family Planning. I know it is a lot of work, but I know several people who have used it to space children. I know one women who is now in her fifties and has used it for thirty years. She only has two boys. Her youngest is 32.

You could try Mirena. it's verry effective and since the hormones are delivered directly to your uterus, it isn't systemic and isn't affected my antibiotics or malabsorption. It's designed to be used for 5 years, but you can always have it removed sooner. I had one for the 5 yrs before I got pregnant and loved it, and had a new one put in after. For me it results in not having any periods at all, but I'm cool with that!

I'm having the same question, we want to have at least one more and because of my age it has to be soon, but I don't want to get pregnant before the first year is up. I thought about Mirena but they say it is very dangerous if you wind up pregnant with it in and it could cause you to damage your uterus permanently. Since its 5 years and I only need one 1 may have to try IUD or another option. I really don't want the pills and DH abhors condoms just on principle.
