Just wondering about pregnancy weight?
I don't mean to be too personal, but I want to know for myself and my weight before my Hubby and I decided to start trying to conceive.
1.) How much did you weigh when you got pregnant? Also how tall are you to begin with?
2.) How much diud you gain?
3.) AND if you have already had your baby, how much did you or were you able to loose afterwards?
Thank-you so much. I just want to find a healthy weight goal to concentrate on. I know we are all different, but I am just wondering. Thanks

If you are at or near your normal weight for your height, a healthy weight goal is 25-30 pounds. That's pretty much the norm for any normal weight woman that gets pregnant. Now if you are having multiples, you need to gain more. If you are overweight or obese (or SMO) you can get by with gaining less. If you are underweight, you need to gain about 35-40 pounds. For every baby you are carrying, you need to add another 250-300 calories to your diet. A good guage of how many calories you'll need during your pregnancy is to take your weight and multiply it by 12. That being said, I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 200 pounds. I've lost about 9-10 pounds so far during this pregnancy (I'm 14 1/2 weeks). I supposedly need 2,400 calories but that is impossible for me. My OB told me to shoot for 1,800-2,000 calories a day and THAT is even a huge stretch for me and I'm almost 3 years out. Then if you have nutritional issues, those need to be addressed in your diet (my vit. D is pretty low, I'm a little anemic and my protein status doesn't usually stay good for very long, but I'm doing pretty ok so far with that one this pregnancy and my anemia is vastly improved)
So, I hope that gives you a pretty good picture. This will be my 5th baby, (9th pregnancy) but only my 1st post-op baby so my weight loss after baby won't really apply.....yet....lol Don't focus on a weight goal. That's about the worst thing you can do. You'll stress and you might not get in all the calories you need if you think you're gaining too much. Concentrate on getting the correct NUTRIENTS in. A general guideline is 100g of carbs, anywhere from 60-100g of protein (my OB and surgeon recommend 75g for me and I'm a big girl), a good prenatal vitamin with at least 1mg of folic acid and make sure you are still getting your calcium with D in.
Good luck trying to conceive when you do decide to try.

My first post op baby I started at 164 and gained 45 pounds. Lost all but 10 of those. Didn't worry about the extra weight. Now this summer I had gained 20 pounds from eating out and bad choices. So I started this pregnancy at 194, I am now 201.5, so gained about 7 and I am almost 20weeks along.
I didn't worry much about the weight either because I was doing what was best for the baby. You will lose it!

Iam almost 27 weeks. My pre-pregnancy weight was 198 and I am 5'7" , Ilost 15 pounds in the first trimester and as of last monday when Igot on the scale Iwas 198 again. So no gain so far!
My surgeon and my OB told me that 20-35 pounds was totally normal. Oh and my friends that have had WLS and babies one came home from the hospital weighing less then her pre-preggo weight and the other is just a few pounds up.

1. I weighed 155 when I found out I was pregnant; I am 5'4".
2. I gained 75 pounds and weighed 230 pounds when I gave birth!!
3. By my 6 week check up, I was down to 192; it has taken me approximately two years to lose the rest, but I now actually weigh about 147 (my lowest weight). I am attempting to lose another 8 pounds or so.
Good luck!!

This is my first baby post op, but my 3rd pregnancy. I lost 130 lbs 10 months out and hit my year mark post op in June of 2009. I got pg in July of 2009 on the first try. I am almost 33 weeks now and have gained 22 lbs so far. I didn't start really gaining till about 24 weeks, up till then I gained like 3 pounds. I had really bad nausea and was throwing up a few times a week up until 12 weeks, so I think that helped with me not gaining weight and eating whatever and how much I wanted. When I was heavier, with my first I started at 215 (I'm 5'3") and gained 35 lbs. With my 2nd baby, I only gained 16 lbs but was 260 to start with. I lost the baby weight after I had both my babies within 2-3 weeks of when I had them, so I got really lucky. I'm hoping that happens again with this one!!
It's just hard to have lost all that weight and then to gain some back so soon, but thankfully I know that this is all baby weight. I haven't made the best choices in food during the pregnancy sometimes, but you have to eat what you can to get by sometimes. I get my protein, water, and vitamins in each day and that's all that is important. I have had blood tests every 3 months to make sure my vitamin levels are what they should be for a healthy baby and pregnancy for me. So I'm doing ok I think!
I went to my 26 week visit and gained 10 lbs since my last visit the month before! My jaw about hit the floor gaining that much weight so quickly!! But my doctor said at that visit, he usually sees a weight gain of 7-15 pounds, so I was right on track. And now at the end of the pregnancy, I know it's normal and healthy to pack on a few more pounds these last few weeks because the baby will gain the rest of his weight. It says on the weekly email from babycenter.com that I get that he is almost 4 lbs right now and I'll probably gain a pound each week till he comes. My first baby was 8 lbs and my 2nd was 7lbs 7oz, so I know he'll at least gain 2-4 more pounds for a healthy weight from now until I have him. So I'm thinking I'll probably gain like 30 lbs by the end, we'll see.... I'm being induced on April 4th at 39 weeks, so only about 6 more weeks to go!
GL to you!
